its like the Boston molasses tank issue on New Game+ mode:

my haul from this year's NotN: 4,005 strange chests

only 3905 are shown here, because I opened 100 on day one of NotN to get the new fams

of these, i purchased 1,387 at or below 16g/16kt over the 2 week span, so subtracting that bunch and then adding the 100 I already opened, I farmed a total of 2,618 chests over this year's 14 day event, which breaks down to an average of 187 chests per day (i.e., that I didn't buy off the AH)

my *goal* was an average of 200 a day, but 187 isn't too bad

it's no where near my all time high from a couple years ago, where I farmed an average of ~300 chests a day!

(that was smack dab in the middle of a 16 month period where FR, or more specifically—coliseum grinding—was my current fixation, so I could do it for *many* hours a day without even noticing the time fly by... but this year, it was for sure a major struggle to get myself do it at all)

it greatly helps that I have a 3 derg team that I made in the summer of 2023 specifically for one hit eliminate kills on all rainsong jungle non-boss enemies, and when I properly get into the groove of it I average 500 to 520 battles per hour, which seems to gets me somewhere around 50 chests per hour (just a rough estimate, because 2 hours usually results in another full stack of 99, ± 5 chests)

i hate that on the activity page, for each of your biggest fans, if you are following them there's is a big "unfollow" button

i've never once meant to unfollow a mutual using it

it HAS caused 100% of my accidental unfollowing incidents

like i get that people may want the follow button there for their biggest fans when they're not yet following them, but why leave the unfollow button in its place after clicking to follow?

leaving the unfollow button there for anything longer than 20 seconds after clicking to follow makes no sense to me

just got the sad news that an aunt and uncle of mine died in a house fire last night, no info yet on how it happened

oddly, I was just thinking of them Friday evening and hoping they were doing okay

random childhood memory just returned to me out of nowhere:

for one summer i stayed at my cousins' (plural, as they're 4 brothers) house, in a somewhat remote town with something like 2000 people total in the town and surrounding area

every day, one of my cousins and i would walk to this tiny gas station, possibly a citgo iirc, and i would take out 20oz mello yello bottles, one by one, and turn them partially upside down such that i could use the diffraction through liquid while looking along the side of the bottle to see if the cap was one that allowed redemption of a free replacement 20oz bottle, or not

once i found two, we would turn in our existing free drink caps and walk back home

the dimensions of the bottle was such that you *shouldn't* be able to see the text underneath the cap, but if the mello yello surface tension was just right as it made contact with text of the cap, the diffraction would make it readable for me

none of my cousins could pull it off, but i had a flawless record that entire summer, nabbing two such "free" drinks almost every day

sometimes they hadn't restocked yet and we would have to wait 1-3 days to turn in our free drink caps (none of us had money, so we could only turn them in when we knew we had the guaranteed replacement winning caps to perpetuate our free mello yello scheme)
