So sp rank,, my thoughts on that lore wise is pretty loose right now so i'm gonna try and base my ideas off of sp rice's wiki (since we only have boston's sp design leaked). in her wiki it's said that she was chosen by the gods of beginning and condensed the power of imagination that she remade the world. maybe she has so much soul power (more than the ur rank, whose class is considered one of a kind)— that she surpasses that rank and is now classified as a god because of it, yet still can be contracted under an attendant. God, imagining contracting a food soul in that rank? that's so much soul power, oof, would attendants even be able to handle that much soul power? again, my ideas on the sp rank is very loose. all i know is that they're expensive as /fuck/. i've also heard beer is getting an sp form as well?? pretty excited about that!

Iirc, one of SP Rice's lines mentions that she doesn't actually have a contract with MA anymore, but still thinks of them as her Master Attendant.

First off I wanna say sorry for taking so long with this oops.

It’s probably a very, very good thing that SP Souls appear to be exempt from the contract system, because as Echo said, it would be so much Soul Power, and I’m pretty sure that some humans already have trouble accepting Soul Power as it is. Hell some humans are probably completely unable to adapt to the contract and I am absolutely sure that some humans have been killed by it. I don’t particularly want to imagine what would happen if a human tried to contract a SP rank Soul, but I can say with certainty that it wouldn’t be pretty.

The being chosen by Gods thing is interesting though, and it actually - yawn yawn I know - makes me think about Croissant again, because really, if any Food Soul is going to be given a SP rank, it’s going to be him, or possibly Canele. I can’t imagine he’s too pleased about that lmao. But the existence of SP Souls could also hint as to why Croissant is Like That - hell maybe UR units are like demigods of some kind, and the SP units are the True Gods. Some shit like that I dunno.

But then again, are we to assume that this rank is given to Souls as a kind of upgrade? Or is the notion that SP Rice and M Rice are two completely different Souls of the same line? One’s the lowest rank of Soul possible and the other is just crazy boosted up on Soul Power. I know it says chosen, which implies that yes it is an upgrade and some kind of gift from the Gods, but then what have these Souls done to warrant such an upgrade? I can understand Beer and Rice too to an extent, but why the fuck would you make Boston a SP unit? Unless the Gods that gave him that upgrade just really wanted to watch the world burn. I mean I can respect that but, yikes.

hOO THIS POST I AM THRIVING!! esp that falling bit aGH i always had the thought of napo possibly falling, with his backstory and all :0 but with it probably relating to how much he binges never really clicked on me, but thinking about it now it could play a huge role in that!! just,, with every treat he gets his hands on he's turning a step deeper and deeper, and maybe he knows about what's happening to him, he just doesn't know how to face battlefields on the mental side because he wasn't made for that h ecc would dds know about this?? like, are they even aware of what could be happening to napo?? maybe even notice those changes, the hints, the amount of food he binges because, as you said, the fs run on soul power, they don't need human food to survive but aren't entirely incapable of eating it, but consuming a whole lot could mean something much more—napo could be slowly but surely falling, but speaking of the napo we know in-game, how far do you think he is?? the most notable sign is the binging,, and has some fallen features decide to form on him?? hoo okay i'm not making any sense ASNWNS but holy i would write about this if i weren't on writer's block loved this post!! can't wait for the others ��

His backstory is a big, big hint that something sinister may happen later on in life, honestly I was alarmed to see just how casually he dealt with committing acts of murder, but after realising how much the guy craves food, I started to realise that “oh no he’s not heartless, he’s using his food to cope, oop.”

DDS absolutely knows, the whole squad strikes me as a group that focuses heavily on recovery; I mean you’ve got B and Napoleon just for starters, all three of them could do with having others around them as they work on recovering from the various bouts of trauma that they have experienced. Falling and being susceptible to Falling is no doubt on every Food Soul’s mind, so I can’t see them being careless with him, Vodka especially would know the danger.

As for Napoleon in game, I think the most telltale sign would be the eyes, sure other Food Souls have red eyes, but it seems so odd and out of place on Napoleon. Though I do always draw my Napoleon with sharp teeth - which I think would be the main feature that would come through with him, sharper teeth and a much bigger mouth.
