Time to finally share my echo!

Recently I got my handheld echo and shared footages and feelings with some community friends. We all agree examining the heart (especially your own) in a private, calm environment with the echo, is a really precious experience. That is to compare with in a public medical settings with doctors around which could be rather stressful.

Since the echo was a serious but worthy investment, the thoughts of sharing the joy with others have come to me. Maybe I could be a travelling cardiophile to visit ppl? or I could invite fellows to come and visit my place as Heartbnb? <3

I love that you can see her pendant bouncing to her pulse--LOVE IT. Seeing a woman's heart pumping drives me loony. And I love when the person doing the probing talks about her heart. Just saying "her heart" OMG! I always wonder if the person being examined is turned on in any way.

Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been silent for so long, just felt like lurking for the longest time. We’ll call this my wellness check, so you know my heart’s still pumping along 🫀

Figured out my iPhone can actually recognize my digital stethoscope so I’m able to do audio alongside my ultrasound recordings! Was very happy to discover that

Heart to Heart

As with all things, “normal” is a spectrum when it comes to heart sizes. @ashes-hearts and I have hearts at opposite ends of that spectrum. While my left ventricle is 5.61 cm wide (or 5.71 cm, depending on which plane you measure across), his only reaches 3.5 cm wide at the peak of diastole. Even during systole, my left ventricle is 6 mm wider than his is at its most relaxed. In his echo report, his sonographer even commented on how small his ventricle is, whereas my heart is large enough that it was sometimes hard to fit the whole thing in the probe’s field of vision.

Atteinte d'une maladie cardiaque, cette femme doit passer une échocardiographie.

Elle doit d'abord enfiler la jaquette exposant son torse.

La technicienne prend la pression de la patiente. Elle se situe à 119/84 à 71 battements par minutes.

Les éléctrodes sont attachées sous les clavicules gauche et droite, et une troisième au niveau de ventre.

Vue parasternale. La sonde est placée du coté gauche de son torse, environ à la hauteur du quatrième ou cinquième espace intercostal. La sonde est orientée soit vers l'axe long ou l'axe court de son coeur.

Vue apicale. La sonde est placée sous son sein gauche près de l'apex du coeur, et pointe vers les auricules.

La patiente peut voir les images de son coeur. La technicienne va évaluer l'état de ses valves, l'épaisseur du myocarde et le mouvement de ses ventricules.
