Gaia’s Melody is great, but Aaron Brass just reeks of bad boss design.

He has two attacks: massive single target earth damage and massive hit all enemies earth damage.

When you encounter him, your party consists of Akira and Kari, with Kachie joining in at the beginning of the battle.

Despite you having had time to train Akira and Kari, he can easily wreck their shit, but Kachie is an earth mage, so she heals from taking earth elemental hits.

Since both of Aaron’s attacks are earth elemental, he can’t harm her, but she can only harm him through slow chip damage in the form of basic attacks because he is immune to earth damage, and as thus, all of her spells.

So he KO’s Akira and Kari, and you just spam the Z button to eventually win at some point in the distant future.

I should really get to playing Gaia’s Melody.

Love the characters, love the style, love RPG’s, so why is it that I can’t butt myself together to actually play the damn game?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good game, but when my PC turned it into a sub 1fps slideshow during [early plot spoiler], I realized just how old my hardware is.
