He feels like a prisoner, their posh downtown apartment slowly suffocating the life out of him. So when his brother begs him to come back for the summer, it's not a hard decision to make. Until he meets a fellow instructor and is pulled kicking and screaming into a confrontation with his past-- an unrequited first love and a lost friendship. OR: Lan Zhan finds Wei Ying in the place he least expects... living the life he'd left behind.

Summary: The dragon will not go away, and Lan Wangji does not know what to do about it. It is clearly very affectionate of him, although he is unsure as to why him, specifically. Lan Wangji, although he is loath to admit it, might also like the dragon. It is sweet, and it is attentive, and it is lithe, and it is energetic. He tries not to think about how it reminds him of Wei Ying, who they haven’t seen in months, who everyone assures him must be fine, who he cannot search for because they are in the middle of a war— Or: Wei Ying is a dragon. He goes to where it matters most.
