July Book Reviews: Eclipse the Moon by Jessie Mihalik
The sequel (from the good Mihalik series with the sensitive take on consent, not the one I didn’t like). This is a fairly classic take on the Silent Stoic Competent one x the Sunshine Smiley Competent one. (because this is decently done, they’re both competent). Since this is also a space opera, the thing the sunshine one is good at is hacking, and she’s trying to track down the war criminal kidnapper from the last book using her hacking powers. (The stoic one is good at punching, mostly. And psy powers.)
Overall, a fun and competently executed SF romance. But to be honest, I was disappointed that Mihalik is ruining the found family vibes by pairing everyone up and (as far as I can tell) only giving the books to the m/f couple. Is the queer polycule going to get their own book? nooooo. The fact that there is a queer polycule is a definite improvement over the days of yore, but I still don’t like it.
