East Coast Music Week in St. John’s
From April 9-12 St. John’s was playing host to East Coast Music Week (ECMW). ECMW is an annual celebration of the amazing music from the atlantic provinces (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI). The week started with an awards show that recognized artists in varying categories for different types of music. Throughout the week, there were venues where each province and genre of music were being showcased.
As you’ve probably figured out from my music Monday posts, I’m a huge music fan. So I made sure to check out some artists that I hadn't heard of before. A good number of the bands and artists that were representing NL have been featured on the blog before, so I took the opportunity to check out other shows.
While all the music was phenomenal, I really enjoyed checking out the big winners of the week, The Town Hero’s. They took home three of the awards, including Group Recording of the year. Check out the video for their song New York City.
For a look at all the nominees and winners, you can check out the ECMA website. It’ll give you a taste of the wonderful talent from atlantic Canada.
