what is ultra sonic?

Essentially Archie's answer to Hyper Sonic.

Ultra Sonic was usually achieved through absorbing a crap ton of Power Rings and gave Sonic control over the elements. One time it was achieved after Sonic strapped a Super Emerald to his back and started running as fast as possible across Mobius; first he went Super and then he went Ultra right after. This led to the appearances of Ultra Sonic's alternate forms based on his environment - Solar, Polar, and Eco. At the end of all this, Sonic's appearance changed to his modern one.

You know, as insane and cheesy as this whole sequence is- with Sonic having environmentally specific super forms and all? I still kinda get a kick out of it, even if I’ve long outgrown the “A RED SUPER FORM? FUCKING YEAH” phase of my life.

Has any of the old comics or manga ever tried to adapt Hyper Sonic?

Closest to that was Archie Sonic #71. Sonic strapped a Super Emerald to his back, went Super, then went Ultra, and then went through three environment-based forms of Ultra: Solar, Polar, and Eco.
