This is my first post in months and months because I have been using other social media sites for photo posting and things. I am back to provide a product review! I like trying out personal care products that are at least somewhat environmentally friendly and healthy, but still affordable and widely available. I think o.b. tampons fit squarely into that category! Smiley360 sent me a free sample of o.b. Super applicator-free tampons to try out and provide my honest review. Read on to find out what I thought. P.S.-This post may not be for everyone or make some people uncomfortable. I will try to keep descriptions very concise! :)
I was always scared to use o.b. tampons when I was in high school and college because I couldn't understand how you could insert them easily, quickly, comfortably, and without mess. They do take a little practice. The biggest obstacle for me then, and now, is that the tampons can be a bit scratchy and dry, and then can be tricky to place exactly right. I do find that the o.b. Pro Comfort/Silk Touch variety are a bit more comfortable to insert. I used the original Super Fluid-Lock o.b. tampons in this review. After using over the course of a few days, I did experience a few times when placement was a little off and I felt a bit of discomfort until the tampon began to absorb. Overall though, I was able to use the o.b. tampons quickly, mostly comfortably, and maybe most importantly, without much mess at all!! For the young people out there who are afraid of getting blood everywhere, I assure you this doesn't happen, and you can quickly wash your hands afterwards after inserting. One of the most important aspects to me is that o.b. tampons are absorbent and just as effective as any other brand, even though the tampon seems small. I didn't experience any major leaks recently, but I did change tampons at least every several hours.
The biggest three reasons why I would buy o.b. tampons is that they are very small, portable, and create a low amount of waste. When you reach the old age of 27, you want an easy and effective solution to menstruation. I don't need any fluff or fanciful period products. I like stashing o.b. tampons in my pocket, purse, car, bathroom drawers, nightstand, etc. They are very small, compact, and take up no space at all. This is very convenient when traveling or on the go. They are very easy to share! O.b. tampons create only a thin plastic wrapper of waste, along with the tampon itself. There is no plastic applicator or large plastic wrapper to dispose of. The cardboard box is very compact, recyclable, and each box has a secret environmentally friendly fact hidden inside!! If those pros were not enough for you, o.b. tampons are also fairly affordable for the number of tampons you get in a box and they are widely available. If you search around the internet or stay on the lookout, you can usually find free samples of o.b. tampons and the plastic carrying cases pretty easily.
I hope I have presented a decent review for others to consider. I have become a big fan of o.b. tampons the older I get because they are just plain easy and protect the environment to boot! I actually do have a menstrual cup and would like to try some organic, chemical free tampons eventually, but for now I appreciate this easy and affordable option. Thanks for reading! :)
