Ecstatically Eccentric

 Over the course of being a new mommy, my accepting, creative and empathetic brain came to the following conclusion: Everyone is crazy. Why damn and judge when we could revel in it instead? Hence the creation of my Tumblr account and the various upcoming mini-blogs documenting my every day crazies. I’m done making excuses for myself and my eccentricities. This is my coming-out party; I’m Weird! Let’s celebrate it! 

                     Without further a-do, Ecstatically Eccentric Part1: Razor Blades.

     I guess I’ve been afraid of razor blades ever since it became socially imperative for me to shave my legs (around age 13). I must have nicked myself one too many times because right around age 14, I swore off razor blades altogether in favor of (what I considered a ‘miracle’) product called Nair. Most people already know that Nair is a hair-removal lotion that you smooth over the area of particular fluffiness, wait up to 10 minutes and wipe clean. Well, this worked fine until the fateful evening when I came home from swim practice and slathered the stuff all over my dry, chlorine exposed legs. This inspired the panicked chant of “Oh Lord, Oh Lord, my legs are on FIRE.” After this horrifying incident, I was forced to go back to razors… however, I never truly conquered my fear of cuts and razor burns. To this day, the only way I can face this irrational fear (which is only one of many) is to smack talk my razor before I use it (sadly, this is not a joke). I do realize though, just how crazy it would seem to be loudly chewing out an inanimate object all alone in the shower… which is why I do it in my head while glaring at my razor menacingly. Some of the more popular excerpts of the mental shit-talking are things like “I fucking swear if you cut me, I will throw you in the Goddamn trash can quicker than you could blink! If you could blink…” 

    And that is why these particular segments are titled “Ecstatically eccentric.”
