Just uploaded a performance of JG Thirlwell with LEMUR instruments and string quartet, performing live at the Thirlwell's composer spotlight concert at the Whitney Museum on November 2 2007.
LEMUR is an acronym for 'League of Musical Urban Robots', which were instruments powered by servo motors and triggered by midi signals, including many percussion 'robots', a guitar-bot and a xylo-bot. The instruments were designed and built by Eric Singer. The musicians in the string quartet were Leyna Marika Papach – violin, Elena Moon Park – violin, Karen Waltuch – viola and Okkyung Lee – cello.
"L'espion qui a pleuré" is a composition by JG Thirlwell which was originally released in the Steroid Maximus album Ectopia (Ipecac Records, 2002).
