Be with what is
I started a list of the contradictory statements that my daughter’s doctors have said. The allergist, within a month, contradicted herself. “She’s too young for environmental allergies.” Three weeks later: “Pollen is definitely an issue. You should give her Zyrtec three times a day.” The pediatric dermatologist was shocked that our pediatrician prescribed fluticasone, a topical steroid for eczema: “Where did you get that?” But in conversation with the pediatrician he said, “Oh no. That’s fine. She can use fluticasone whenever.”
As my daughter’s food allergies and eczema worsened, coincidentally, I began diving into Buddhism. “Be with what is” was my hope to limit the suffering I was adding to my worry.
