Gioia - “Burn Me Down”
Earlier this year, we were introduced to Gioia, the haunted ambient industrial pop project of NYC songwriter Ivana Carrescia (ex-Eddi Front) and Godmode Music headmaster / former Mr. Dream drummer Nick Sylvester. Together, the two artists conjured dark magic from within themselves to put out one of the year’s most spellbinding debuts that likewise suffices to be one of 2016′s better examples of electronic experimentation. All Hallows’ Eve has evidently stirred up the duo's spirits for one more bout with morbidity, as they are the latest entry into Godmode’s Faculty singles series with their new single -- or as they call it “a prayer for the faithful departed” -- called “Burn Me Down”. The listen is a natural progression of the séance they’ve produced in the soundboards that rests between Carrescia’s transfixing vocals hovering overhead through spectral maneuvers and Sylvester mapping the plight of souls between a decaying earthly confine and the other side through shocks of unbalanced static waves. Gioa's spiral staircase into the unknown is impossible not to stare into, and if you're not careful, you'll find yourself being pulled into the noisy limbo, too.
