A couple of weeks before Auror training starts, Abuelita comes to visit. It is not uncommon for her to come to stay with them for the weekend, or even a full week, but what Eddie is not expecting is to see one of his uncles step out of the floo with Abuela. “Hijito, you will go with Tio Carlos today, mm?” Abuela says after she has hugged him. She says it kindly, but there’s no room for argument. It’s such a surreal experience, that Eddie only has time to shoot Pepper a confused look before they are stepping out of the house into the blazing London summer.

“So you celebrate for eight days?” Franklin’s voice is packed with disbelief. Eddie nods in response because his mouth is full of cake. “For eight days? That can’t be right. When do you sleep?” Eddie shrugs. He wants to answer they don’t really worry much about sleeping during octavitas. You sleep when you are tired, when your body cannot keep going any longer, but if you still have some energy then you power through, singing and dancing and having as much fun as you can. "It’s not my fault Englishmen do not know how to properly celebrate birthdays” Eddie says with a smile that quickly turns into a laugh at Franklin’s affronted look. “Couldn’t sleep?” Eddie tries for a nonchalant tone of voice, but he sees the way Franklin’s shoulders tense up. “Mmhm” “I’m guessing you’ve been up for a couple of hours” Eddie hops on the empty counter. This way, he and Franklin are almost the same height. “Mmhm, yeah, something like that” “Are you gonna tell me what’s got you so worried or do you want me to guess?”
