Boardwalk Empire as John Mulaney quotes (part one maybe?)
(Yes it’s probably been done before, no I don’t care)
Richard:
Charlie:
Nucky to The Commodore:
Meyer:
Eli:
Eddie Kessler:
Johnny Torrio:
Jimmy:
Benny and Charlie whenever anyone uses That Name™️:
Mickey:
Meyer has so many fantastic little moments in North Star, but one in particular really knocks me on my ass.
“My condolences. For your man, Eddie.”
Throughout the episode, people like Mickey and Bill McCoy notice his absence but he’s reduced to feigned recognition at best. But Meyer looks Nucky dead in the eye and raises a toast to him. Someone he probably only met a handful of times.
“I sorry, I never remember your name.” Masseria says to him in Margate Sands.
Meyer goes out of his way to commit Eddie’s name to memory. I’d like to think this parallel was intentional, and I’m really emotional about it.
Best Hamilton Lyrics for Each Boardwalk Empire Character
Nucky Thompson - “Why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room? Soon that attitude may be your doom.”
Eli Thompson - “I look back on where I failed and in every place I checked, the only common thread had been your disrespect.”
Margaret Schroeder - “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal. And when I meet Thomas Jefferson, I’ma compel him to include women in the sequel.”
Chalky White - “I am not throwing away my shot.”
Arnold Rothstein - “I’m not standing still. I am lying in wait.”
Jimmy Darmody - “I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory. When’s it gonna get me? In my sleep? Seven feet ahead of me? If I see it comin’, do I run or do I let it be? Is is like a beat without a melody.”
Richard Harrow - “Inside he was longing for something to be a part of. The brother was ready to beg, steal, borrow, or barter.”
Charlie Luciano - “Hamilton doesn’t hesitate. He exhibits no restraint. He takes and he takes and he takes. And he keeps winning anyway. He changes the game. He plays and he raises the stakes. And if there’s a reason he seems to thrive when so few survive.”
Gillian Darmody - “Some men say that i’m intense or i’m insane. You want a revolution. I want a revelation.”
Nelson Van Alden - “I scream in the face of this mass mutiny: are these the men with which I am to defend America?”
Al Capone - “Watch this obnoxious, arrogant, loudmouth bother be seated at the right hand of the father.” “
Meyer Lansky - “Only nineteen, but my mind is older.”
Gyp Rosetti - “I wanna be in the room where it happens.”
Mickey Doyle - “Fools who run their mouth wind up dead.”
Valentin Narcisse -“You are uniquely situated by virtue of your position. (Though virtue is not i’d apply to this situation) To seek financial gain, to stray from your sacred mission.”
Billie Kent - “Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now.”
Owen Sleater - “ “Your lieutenant when there’s a reckoning to be reckoned.”
Angela Darmody - “His poor wife.”
Eddie Kessler - “Immigrants... We get the job done.”
Benny Siegel - “I’m just like my country. I’m young, scrappy, and hungry.”
