Hi! I had a cute idea for a mini fic if you were interested! I’d love to see maybe reader moves into the trailer across from Eddie’s and he sees her outside smoking every night and he just thinks she’s so pretty but he never says anything. Maybe one day Dustin is at Eddie’s and they see reader, Dustin somehow knows her and he’s like “wait THAT is the girl you won’t shut up about?” And he tries to play matchmaker 🥺🥹
I saw this requet and it just made my heart skip because I thought the story would be so so cute. And then I started writing and it kind of took on a story of it's own. This is part one of two, which will be posted tomorrow night .
Trailer Park Kids - Part 1 - Eddie Munson
CW: 3.3k | Angst, fluff, y/n , sweetheart, Dustin, strangers to... , allusion to anxiety and insecurity
Masterlist | part two | part 3 |
Happy isn’t necessarily the word you would use to describe how you felt about moving to Hawkins.
Things went a little off the rails with your mom and stepdad, and you needed an out. Unfortunately, moving from your beachside town in California to your dad’s trailer in Indiana was your only option.
The only person you remember is Dustin Henderson. Those few summers back here when you were younger were spent riding bikes with him, maybe even tagging along with the rest of his group of friends to do some weird adventure. You had even tagged in to play DnD with him twice, but you never got into it like they did. You always felt a little on the outside, being a few years older, but they were the only ones who accepted you and your temporary presence in their town. Dustin stopped in to say hi when you first arrived, you two had seen a movie together, but other than that haven’t talked much.

Dustin stopped in to say hi when you first arrived, you two had seen a movie together, but other than that haven’t talked much.
Which is why it’s a Friday night and you’re sitting alone on your front steps outside of your trailer, smoking a j as you look up at the stars.
-
More like Eddie the Creep Munson, the boy thinks to himself as he stares out his front window staring at you - again.
You don’t know it, but this is the routine he seems to meet you in every few nights.
It started a few weeks ago when he was about to go out and smoke, but saw a light across the way. No one is ever up as late as he is out here, unless his uncle is getting home. He had peeked out the window tentatively, and that’s when he saw you, face lit up by the glow of your lighter flicking in the cold.
His heart skipped. He saw you move in, but thought maybe you were just visiting or probably not staying long. But now here he is, seeing you cuddled up in a worn jacket, hair in a messy bun, lips wrapped around a joint. If you’re wearing shorts, they’re really short because he can see all the way up your thighs to where the hem of your hoodie sits. And he can’t help but think about what it would be like to be placed in between those thighs…
He thinks he’s dreaming.
You’re perfect. You look perfectly run down, disheveled and angsty and gorgeous.
He says it out loud as his heart hammers in his chest “Fuck.”
-
“Hey Dusty,” she calls as Dustin gets out of the van across from her trailer.
“Hi stranger,” the boy smiles back, waving a goofy hand back at the girl.
She brings her cigarette to her lips as her head looks back down at what looks like her journal in her lap. She’s sitting on her steps yet again, where Eddie seems to always find her.
Eddie hops out of the other side of his van in absolute shock. His eyes are wide and he has to grit his teeth to not yell at Dustin. How did Dustin of all people know her???
He grabs the boy quickly by the collar and rushes him inside his trailer, making sure the door is closed firmly behind them.
“Woah man, why the rush?” Dustin laughs, eyes flicking around nervously at Eddie’s sudden change in mood.
“How do you know her?” Eddie asks all too urgently.
Dustin’s eyebrows raise. “She used to come around during summer sometimes…” He answers curiously. Eddie’s brown eyes drift from the boy, nodding slowly as his teeth bite his lip.
“What’s her name?” Eddie tries to keep his tone calm and collected, but it is far from it.
Annoyed, Dustin snaps back at him. “Why don’t you just go ask her yourself?”
Eddie can’t help himself, he grabs Dustin by his shirt again. “Henderson I swear -“
That’s when he realizes it - Eddie only ever gets set off when it comes to DnD, conformist ideals, or “You have a crush!” Dustin yells in his face. Eddie shoves the kid away from him with a huff, his head slightly peaking out the window in panic.
“Shut up kid.”
“Wait, THAT’S the girl you won’t shut up about? Oh it makes so much sense now,” Dustin continues on, unable to contain himself with his newfound knowledge. Eddie’s eyes squeeze shut in frustration, he should’ve never let Dustin know about this, he’s going to bug him about it nonstop. “Just- never mind Henderson,” Eddie sighs, heading toward his room to try and end the conversation.
“No no no,” Dustin quips, following Eddie hot on his heels. “Leave this to me, Eddie the Banished. Little ol’ Dusty is gonna help you out here,” he says, eyebrows wiggling at the metalhead.
“Dustin,” Eddie threatens. “I’ll kill you.”
“You can kill me, but at least you’ll finally get laid.”
“That’s it, you’re walking home tonight.”
-
You’re in your typical spot on the couch, tears pricking your eyes after watching Dirty Dancing for probably the millionth time. Something about the stupid rom-com makes your heart strings pull.
KnockKnockKnock
Your head turns immediately to the front door. Who would be knocking on your door at 7PM on a Thursday night? You creep to peak behind the curtains out the window, trying to go unnoticed just incase it’s a serial killer. You’re home alone, as you are most nights because your dad has the graveyard shift, and you weren’t trying to get murdered in this tiny town.
“Y/N it’s just me, Dustin,” you hear from the other side of the door.
Your tensed shoulders drop as you open the door to see the smiling boy in front of you. “What’s up Henderson? Scared the shit outta me,” you admit. You have no idea why he would be at your door at this time…you don’t even see his bike anywhere around. How did he even get here?
“Boo!” He laughs, trying to scare you again. It doesn’t work. You just stare at him, confused.
“Uh, anyway,” he chuckles nervously. “I was wondering if you wanted to come play DnD with me and the guys? Maybe meet some new people?” He wiggles his eyebrows at you in invitation, but you’re feeling torn. Do you really want to go hang out with all those kids again? (Though, at this point they were basically young adults, but still, Is that weird?) You look back to your couch, where your butt as been indented into it because of how often you spend nights alone watching sad movies there until you fall asleep.
You exhale a sigh. “Yeah fuck it, why not? Where we headed?” You ask, grabbing your keys from the hook on the wall. Your shitty truck is parked just out front and even though it’s dark, you swore you couldn’t see Dustin’s bike anywhere.
“See, that’s actually the crazy thing! We don’t even have to drive,” Dustin says as you walk out of the trailer and lock the door. Your eyebrows raise in question. Surely he isn’t suggesting you guys play…outside…
“Oh look at that! Eddie’s trailer is right over there, and he just so happens to be our DM! That’s so convenient and not strange at all,” Dustin smiles, urging you to walk faster as you cross over the pebbled dirt toward the other trailer. You had seen a floppy haired guy come in and out of the trailer before, he looked kind of cool, kind of grunge like you, but he never even looked your way so you didn’t really think about it again.
“Uhhh…” you say, feet starting to slow beneath you as your anxiety sets in. What’s this kid up to?
“Don’t stop now. Mike and the guys will be there too, I promise it will be fun!” Dustin says, grabbing your wrist and pulling you forward.
You don’t argue, accepting your fate as you stand in front of the trailer door. Dustin bangs on it loudly. “Eddie the Banished!!! We are here!” You cringe at the volume of Dustin’s theatrics, and find your lip between your teeth.
The door flings open and the curly-haired boy stands tall in it’s frame, wearing a Hellfire Club shirt and black jeans. “Ah, dear Henderson wh-what the fuck-“
You could just about evaporate into thin air.
“Oh Eddie you know Y/N, you guys are neighbors!” Dustin chirps. Eddie looks like he’s seen a fucking ghost. And you think all the air has been sucked out of you.
Dustin looks between you two as you stare at him in shock and nerves. Dustin nods his head toward you as he stares back at Eddie. This seems to shake him out of whatever shock he’s in as he clears his throat and looks back at you. His height makes it so he’s mores looking down at you, brown eyes nervously looking between your eyes and your feet. “Hi Y/N,” he smiles. He has a really nice smile…
“I’m, uh I’m Eddie. Yeah I think I’ve seen you around here before,” he says, awkwardly clearing his throat as he languidly points toward your trailer.
You nod your head. “Yeah, yeah I moved in a little bit ago. Sorry I never like..introduced myself or whatever..” You say, and immediately shut your eyes. Why would you say that? Could you get any more awkward?
“Oh no, no it’s fine. Trailer park kids need no introduction,” Eddie replies, trying to calm your nerves, and his own. You huff a nervous chuckle before a moment of awkward silence takes over.
“Well, uh- yeah come in, come in,” Eddie says getting out of the way so you and Dustin can make your way into his trailer. It’s almost identical to your own, small but not too cramped. Cozy. You assume not many people other than Eddie lives here considering it’s cluttered but not messy.
Dustin leads the way, heading to the couch in the living room, which you try not to find odd considering the table in the kitchen looks like it’s much more setup for DnD.
Eddie sneaks by you, a hand lightly touching your hip as he squeezes past into the living room. Your breathing falters when he does it, and you’re not even sure if it was intentional, but the touch felt like he left you on fire. What the fuck?
You saw then that his hands were covered in chunky rings, matching his dark attire. You also took the moment to notice tattoos scattered across his light skin. He’s actually…hot. Like, really hot. And he seems somewhat normal. Normal enough for this town. You find your mind wandering, drifting to thoughts of him touching you other places as he whispers something to Dustin that you can’t hear.
“Oh sorry um, Y/N do you want something to drink?” Eddie offers. You nod as Eddie comes past you again, walking toward the kitchen. You follow him nervously, feeling completely out of your element. You had no idea you’d be in a situation like this tonight and though it’s extremely uncomfortable, you find yourself wanting to learn more about Eddie.
He opens the fridge and chuckles, looking up at you with those brown eyes. You swear your heart skips. “Well it looks like we only have Coke, water, or some cheap beer. Any of those suit you, sweetheart?”
Sweetheart? You feel like you could melt. And the blush coating your cheeks must have shown on your face. “Sorry I don’t know why I said that I-“
“Water, water is fine,” you interrupt Eddie, not wanting him to apologize. You liked that he called you that. You wouldn’t necessarily refer to yourself as a sweetheart, your smudged eyeliner and black jeans, old t-shirt and ripped tennis shoes…no one has ever called you sweetheart. But it sounds nice coming from him.
Eddie’s lips quirk into a slow smile as he tosses you a bottle of water, grabbing a soda for himself. “So what brought you to the glamorous town of Hawkins?” Eddie asks as he guides you back to the living room, a hand coming softly to your low back to turn you around.
Is he this touchy with everyone? (Not really, but he likes how you squirm a little). Because you’ve never felt such a simple touch go straight between your legs. It’s ridiculous the effect he’s having on you .
You don’t know it, but Eddie is shocked by his own confidence as well. Maybe it’s because he’s in the Dungeon Master mindset, having been ready to play, but either way, now that he has you in his trailer he’s decided he doesn’t want you to leave. You’re even prettier up close, and the way you blushed when he called you sweetheart made him want to jump up and kiss you right there.
You land next to Eddie on the couch, close but not too close, Dustin sitting on the cushy rocking chair. “It’s kind of a long story…” you start, sort of embarrassed of your family situation.
“Well it seems like we have time. Where is everyone anyway?” Eddie asks Dustin.
“Oh my gosh, I totally forgot!” Dustin says dramatically, standing up from the chair. “Mike had that thing and he told me and Will was supposed to go to the other thing. Ugh I forgot I was supposed to meet them there with Lucas and - Oh no, I have to go. Sorry guys.” He’s rambling, grabbing his backpack and saying things that don’t even make sense.
“Where are you going? What are you talking about Henderson?” Eddie calls after him, standing to chase him as he rushes toward the door.
“Oopsies! You two have fun!” Dustin smiles big, running out of the door and slamming it shut before jumping on his bike that was discarded behind Eddie’s van, hidden in plain sight.
“Okay, what the fuck,” Eddie says, looking at you in confusion. “I swear I don’t know what just happened.”
“I-I can leave too if this is weird,” you suggest, starting to get up. But Eddie rushes over to stand in front of you.
“No! No don’t leave,” he says a little too quickly. You have to bite back a smile. He crosses his arms in front of his chest as he thinks. You sit on the couch awkwardly, unsure of what to do with the boy. You hate to admit it, but you are a little excited to be alone with him. But it’s irrational, you don’t even know this guy. You pick at the rip in your jeans.
“I think I know what’s going on,” Eddie says after a moment, chuckling to himself.
“Oh?” You ask, a slight playful lilt in your tone. Eddie looks down at you, and wonders if you’ve been thinking the same thing.
“He set us up,” Eddie says.
It hits you then - the way Dustin randomly showed up after he was with Eddie the other day…“But we don’t even know each other,” you reply, trying not to sound harsh but it’s true. How can you set up two people who have never even formally met.
Eddie shakes his head. “I know but it’s my fault for asking about you the other day- stupid stupid,” he admits.
You can’t help but giggle at his flustered look. You stand up, walking a pace over to him and crossing your arms over your chest to mirror him. “You asked about me?”
Eddie rolls his eyes at your cheeky look. “Oh God,” he mutters.
“Why did you ask about me?” You tease, a smile on your lips. It’s so easy to tease him, to talk to him. Everything about him seems familiar in some way, maybe it’s just because you live in the same type of home, and dress similarly, seem to have some sort of similar interests…
“Why do you think sweetheart?” He challenges you, looking you up and down. Heat rises in your cheeks, as well as your core at the way he looks at you.
“I don’t know…” you lie, playing dumb as you avoid his gaze.
“Hmmm…” he hums, playing along. “Maybe I’ve seen you smoking outside and thought you were really cute…or maybe I just wanted to know who’s shitty truck was hogging up the lot,” he teases.
Your mouth hangs open both at his admission and how he’s playing with you. “Hey my truck is just as shitty as your van!”
“Do not talk my girl in my home, in that way,” he fake threatens.
“Yeah? Or what Eddie Munson?” You challenge, stepping up to him eyes locked, barely containing the giggles that are threatening to burst through your chest.
He inhales slowly as he gauges you. Your heart is practically pounding out of your chest. His eyes flick to your mouth. “Or I might just have to kiss you,” he says, his voice dropping.
Your breath hitches in your throat as your eyes now, too, look at his lips. “What a crime that would be,” you lie slightly leaning your head up, a small attempt at resisting the urge to press your lips against his own.
“Consider me criminal,” he whispers before grabbing your face and crashing his lips into yours.
The kiss is nothing short of electric. His lips are plump and soft, but slightly rough as he presses his mouth harder and harder into yours, his tongue slipping between your lips, eliciting a small hush of a moan from you. The sound only urges Eddie to kiss you harder.
You finally break away to breathe. But the sight in front of you takes your breath away again - Eddie with his swollen, wet lips, flushed cheeks and blown out brown eyes. It’s enough to make your core ache.
But your mind starts to race. What are you doing? Making out with a guy you barely know in a trailer? Is this you?
Eddie notices the shift in your eyes and his heart cracks. “Hey,” he caresses your face again. “Are you okay? Was that not okay?” He asks, his eyes soft as they look into yours.
You don’t know what’s going on with you - maybe it’s because of the move, maybe it’s being in this town, with these people, maybe it’s him. Maybe it’s you. But you’re embarrassed, that you can’t get out of your head. Your eyes start to tear up as you look at the charming boy in front of you. You don’t want him to see you like this - you don’t want him to see what a mess you really are.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper, backing away from him. The kiss was almost too good. You knew it would lead to something more, and as much as you want that, as you think you may even want him , you’re scared to let him in - to let anyone in.
“Sweetheart,” Eddie starts, but you shake your head.
“I’m just gonna- I just gotta go,” you say, rushing out the door as you hear Eddie call after you.
You don’t look behind you as you run across the pebbled ground to get back to your trailer, fumbling with your keys to open the door back up before stumbling inside. You close and lock the door behind you as you let the tears fall.
Eddie doesn’t know what happened - he’s worried he overstepped, that he hurt you, that he didn’t read you correctly. He wants to get to know you, all of you.
And as he sits on his steps, staring at your trailer, he decides it’s his mission to do so.
