do you feel tempted to write “summary sucks story much better” when posting your fics? say no more, because there’s a framework you can use to intrigue your potential readers!
1) Sentence establishing the status quo
2) Inciting event that shakes the status quo
3) Sentence that suggests that characters cannot go back to status quo
idk I’ve just been using Ao3 more lately and it makes me remember that people struggle with this. Bad summaries personally turn me off and I think the solution’s simpler than it seems
i just finished reading your unfocused analysis on el fans being mostly lgbt/queer and read all of the read more stuff too and FUCK that got me tearing up- i started with CF first as well cause i heard a lot about the BE house basically being the queer house lol, but as i was playing i was just struck by how everyone FELT like real people... being able to watch everyone bond through the guidance and support of byleth, my OWN influence directing this character, and then have all of our effort summarized in El saying "when humans stand together there is no need for gods" just hit me in that abused-by-christians queer kid kinda way, yknow? watching everyone bond and work through trauma, eventually surpasing byleth, this person with the god-like powers, in skill??? and in the end when byleth's heart beat for the first time i saw it as everyone taking byleth as a human now, accepting them for what they choose to be and not who they were forced to be and that hits in a DIFFERENT way entirely and i love it!!!

I am relieved I went into this game blind, because I might’ve stumbled across some reductive Edelgard takes and missed out on my favourite character of all time. Crimson Flower is a queer narrative!! And then most of the bi romance options are Black Eagles, and it has a surprising amount of platonic m/f endings?? The FLAVOUR

I curate my space here very well so I never actually come across Edelgard haters. I definitely keep them off this blog.
With that being said, I love analysis about her/analyzing her and a lot of this *mentions* bad takes on her character that exist in order to refute them. As fans of hers, is it disheartening to read those? I try to limit how much exposure bad-faith “criticisms” of her get.
