Crimson Flower Route, 'Fire Emblem: Three Houses', Edelgard/Petra. 

After finding the opportunity Edelgard and the Black Eagles Strike Force visit the home country of Petra's, Brigid. There Petra is extremely excited to show everyone, particularly the emperor, around her home to teach them of her culture, all the while showing Brigidians that Adrestians and Fódlaners can exist together.

Edelgard finds her feelings for Petra to be quite wonderful, perhaps even beyond close friends; Petra harbours strong feelings for Edelgard, although is unsure how to display them. Closest family and friends mistaken Petra's companionship with Edelgard to be romantic, leaving the two flustered. Yet what better way to unify and liberate two countries by forming a genuine loving bond between its two rulers? Everyone is a winner then: two women find love with one another, and two countries form a bond.

Petragard (Edelgard/Petra) needs more love so I offer you some food!

lmao I make the weirdest captions but I really love lucisev and they have limited interactions and I’m a little sad that Edelgard and Petra go up to B but I guess it’s better than nothing! Their B support was really cute though

Tender Together

Day 5: Tender for @fe3hlgbtweek! With how gruelling the war Petra states to Edelgard that if the two are tender together they can soothe their souls. (Post-Timeskip!Edelgard/Petra).

Petra knows that Edelgard is a capable warrior.

Everyone in the Black Eagle Strike Force knows that Edelgard can hold her head up high and appear unfazed in the face of great adversary. As someone with a warrior background Petra recognises the white haired woman’s talents in the battlefield. When the two fight together they seem completely unstoppable. When together they dance across their enemies and slice them with their weapons. When by each other’s sides they know they can rely on each other.

Yet when it came to tender moments like hugs or resting an arm on a shoulder the two lacked the skills.

Petra notices how Edelgard flinches when someone hugs her from behind, or when a person even simply grazes her side. Thanks to her hunter background she can sense someone’s true... ‘colours’ for the lack of better Fódlanese word. Edelgard is a tormented soul. It pains the foreign princess to see how her close companion suffers in silence. Whilst being affectionate with friends is normal in Brigid Petra herself has not found the time to embrace tender touches. In that regard she and Edelgard are alike. Petra herself tries to look unfazed by the war, but in truth she is as tired as Edelgard. 

They’ve always been so alike.

They’ve always shared the burdens.

In regards to the emperor the Brigidian noticed her walk, completely oblivious of her presence, to a tree. Thanks to her honed eyesight from years of hunting prey Petra noticed how sullen Edelgard appeared. That peculiar hairstyle of the emperor also seemed untidy with the loose strands falling from the buns. A determined frown found itself etched on the tanned woman’s face. Edelgard used to always look after her, and now it was her turn to check on her. With that in mind Petra approached Edelgard.

“Greetings Edelgard!” Petra called out with a smile.

A flinch of the head indicated that Edelgard heard her. She turned to the younger woman and offered one of those rare genuine smiles of hers. Seeing Edelgard’s face beam towards her made Petra feel a sense of warmth she’s never felt with anyone else. It is a strange but not unpleasant feeling. 

“Hello Petra; is there something you need?” Edelgard inquired with inquisitive lilac eyes. Those eyes always mesmerised the foreign princess.

“I being... erm, been meaning to ask if you would like the display of affection from me,” Petra spoke when she came to the smaller woman’s side.

An uncharacteristic pink blush found itself upon Edelgard’s face. It goes well with her eyes, Petra thinks. “Could you please elaborate?”

Petra hummed in thought and then her brown eyes lit up at an idea. “I would like us to do the hugging and be in a long embrace!”

At this Edelgard cocked an eyebrow. Petra continued, “You and I have been... been exhausted with the war efforts. I miss our tender times together back at the academy. I think we both be needing it.”

Edelgard’s eyes softened at that. Petra could tell from the pensive expression of the pallor woman that she recalled the times when they would cuddle against a tree after training. Now though they haven’t done anything like that. Not even a hug. 

Edelgard let out a sigh and answered sullenly, “I am not the... best at displaying affection.”

Petra shook her head and shot an encouraging grin. “Affection is affection! I would love to embrace you, Edelgard, as you once were so warm!”

A light splutter came from the usually austere emperor, who then beamed warmly at Petra. “I miss your warmth too, Petra. I think your idea will do us both good.”

With that said Petra opened her arms and gently embraced the white haired woman. Ah Edelgard was as warm as she remembered! With one hand she gently rubbed the back of the emperor’s neck. Edelgard tightened her hug around the foreign princess, yet she was still mindful of her strength so to not hurt her. The smell of lavender still brought a soothing spell onto Petra after all these years.

As if some invisible force drew them in they leaned against the tree, where Petra’s back pressed the bark and slid down with Edlegard in her arms. When they made contact with the ground Petra beamed down at the now cuddled Edelgard against her person. Edelgard chuckled at their position as she gazed softly at Petra. With one hand the emperor brought it to the purple mark beneath Petra’s cheek and thumbed it with a tenderness none would expect from Edelgard. Petra ran her fingers through the white haired woman’s scalp, admiring the feather-like sensation upon her tips.

“Do you feel much better, Edelgard?” Petra asked quietly as she continued to look fondly down at the woman she’s cuddling with.

Edelgard smiled softly up at Petra. “You always make me feel better, Petra.”

Petra grinned in triumph. “As do you too, Edelgard!”

They stayed like this, caught in a tender embrace that both women cherished, knowing that they love each other and will always support one another.

You wrote about Petragard so I was wondering if you have any headcanons as to what does Edelgard like about Petra, and what does Petra like about Edelgard?

Edelgard/Petra is too good (I think ‘Petragard’ has the best ring to it compared to ‘Edeltra’) to pass! The beginning parts are more friendship but develop more over time!

Edelgard on Petra:

Edelgard instantly liked Petra for being a hard worker and studious individual. 

She admires how regardless of language boundaries Petra wishes to have the same work as other students.

Edelgard finds Petra to be brave when she asks for others to help her with her language and grammar; it takes courage to seek help.

Petra loves her homeland (patriotically, not nationalistically) and Edelgard can relate to that.

She loves having intelligent conversations with Petra: on politics, life-style and the future of Fodlan.

Petra was one of the first person to not insult or point out her stature; she even states the benefits and it makes Edelgard feel happy.

She loves how Petra treats her so… normal? As if she is not the future emperor. 

Can’t handle a ‘mild’ dish? Petra laughs at her. Admits she can’t swim? Petra’s there to help her. She treats her as a person.

Edelgard honestly loves Petra’s accent and voice. It’s so charming and soothing, yet it can be serious and menacing. 

She can count on Petra to watch her back and be by her side as a friend, as Edelgard does for her.

She loves learning about Brigid from Petra (also seeing Petra beam with joy melts the future emperor).

Petra is so considerate of others even those not of her people that Edelgard finds her inspirational. 

Petra’s smile are so genuine and warm that it never fails to make Edelgard smile.

Her brown eyes are so full of spirit and strength that Edelgard feels safe and cared for whenever she looks at them.

She loves Petra’s hugs as they’re warm and genuine. 

When Edelgard saw Petra’s hair down for the first time her breath was taken away. Petra’s just so beautiful.

She realised her feelings for her when the two were split up from the Black Eagles and worked together.

Petra’s kindness, selflessness, strong-spirit, intelligence-

Just… everything about Petra is wonderful. Being in love with her is so wonderful.

Petra on Edelgard:

Petra instantly liked (and was genuinely surprised) that Edelgard did not see her as lower than her and was open to her.

She admires how whilst Edelgard appears solemn there is a kind soul that does not discriminate against anyone.

Edelgard willingly takes the time to help her with her language and grammar? Even when she has homework? How can Petra not love this quality of Edelgard.

She loves how Edelgard shares her genuine want for friendship between Adrestia and Brigid.

Whilst she can stand up for herself against those that discriminate her she feels touched that Edelgard stands up for her.

Really seeing Edelgard standing up for anyone whether Adrestian, commoner, or what not is inspirational to Petra.

Petra likes how cute Edelgard can be whenever she is embarrassed or playing cool. Makes her giggle all the time.

Edelgard treats her no differently from others, and for that she happily becomes the future emperor’s friend.

Petra’s over the moon when Edelgard wishes to respect Brigid customs when visiting Brigid with her.

She loves Edelgard’s laughs as they sound so melodic and whimsical. 

Her lilac eyes are so striking and full of sincerity when one really looks into them. They’re mesmerising. 

She loves how no matter how many times she seeks guidance from Edelgard the future emperor is always happy to help.

Even when it has nothing to do with studying. One time Edelgard fixed her cravat without Petra asking and it brought a blush to the princess.

Seeing Edelgard smiling brings warmth to Petra. She feels special and safe.

She realised her feelings when one night Petra was stressing about an exam because of how difficult the language is-

-And Edelgard stayed up all night with her to help her, risking not doing well on her own test so be sure that Petra does well-

-When Edelgard didn’t do too well on the test (she still did amazing) not once did she blame Petra. Instead she smiled at her and said ‘I am glad that you succeeded, Petra’.

Edelgard’s openess to others, her sincerity, her soul-

Petra couldn’t help but fall in love.

Letters Over Dwindling Times (A Post-Timeskip Edelgard/Petra Drabble)

(An angsty drabble about Edelgard and Petra sending each other letters, and how Petra stops over time. Edelgard/Petra.).

When they graduated Edelgard suggested to Petra that in order to keep contact that they should write letters to each other. Petra was ecstatic with the idea; she could keep in contact with her best friend and love while she was back at Brigid! 

The first letter brought incomprehensible joy to both rulers.

Dearest Petra,

Though it has been two months since we graduated I find myself missing you the most. You were the first true friend I made; I felt like our connection was genuine. I believe that Brigid is in capable hands with you. We will see each other again some time. That is something I constantly look forward to.

Your dearest friend, Edelgard.

It is said that Petra had the widest grin any human being could muster when she had read that letter.

Dearest Edelgard,

Reading your letter warms me greatly! You are someone whom I miss most. I miss everyone, yet I thinking of you always. You first welcomed me and respected me. Over time I cherished you, and now you are closest friend. I too looking much forward when we meet again!

Your dearest friend, Petra.

They kept sending letters to each other, both constantly eager to receive news from one another. Whenever they heard that they received a letter excitement consumed every fibre of their being, even if they might have felt tired or dour.

Dearest Petra,

It was absolutely wonderful seeing you again! Oh how I miss your kind brown eyes and radiant smile. You bring unspeakable joy to mine life. No other person does so. In this case I was wondering if... maybe when the time is right...that you would take my hand in marriage. Please disregard that last statement!

Your dearest friend, Edelgard.

Dearest Edelgard,

I felt such an immense joy from seeing you after a year since we last saw each other! My Adrestian has improved and your Brigidian has too! You are the only person to make me feel special. I could not read your scribbled writing. Did you write something embarrassing? You know I can never find you embarrassing.

Your dearest friend, Petra.

But overtime in the following years Edelgard stopped receiving letters from Petra.

At first The Emperor of Adrestia grew worried that something happened to Petra. But then it turned into utter puzzlement when she learnt that Petra was in perfect condition, and the ruler of Brigid. 

Dearest Petra,

Is there something bothering you at Brigid? I have been informed that you are the ruler and in fine condition. Are you scared that I am angry at you for refusing to join Adrestia in this war? I have mentioned in the letter that I am not forcing you to join me.

Your dearest friend, Edelgard.

Yet as the war continued Edelgard still received nothing from Petra. All she knew was from her spy networks informing her that Brigid wished to remain neutral in the three-way conflict. 

Dear Petra,

Please respond to me... I know from close sources that my letters arrive to Brigid. Why is it that you wish to distance yourself from me?

Your friend, Edelgard.

Apparently when some Adrestian refugees were taken onto Brigid the ruler made it clear that she despised the emperor. To say this broke Edelgard’s heart was an understatement. Many of her old friends have left her or broke away any bonds they had with her. As emperor that is what she is used to: friends are a burden to rational rule. Yet that logic did not apply to Petra...

Dear Petra,

What have I done to make you despise me so much? I have not invaded Brigid nor do I show discrimination against your people. If I wanted to I could invade and conquer Brigid anytime! The only Brigidians I have killed are those allied to Faerghus or the Leicester Alliance! I know you get these letters so respond to me! I am your emperor so I command you to!

Edelgard.

Then one day a letter came. 

When a messenger came to her chambers and informed her that it was from Petra the usually cold emperor leapt to her feet and snatched it from him. Once she dismissed him and her servants she read the letter. At the last sentence she froze. Her hands shivered and her fingers clenched the sheet of paper. In a fit of rage she screamed and tore the letter to shreds. Through laboured breathing she then sat back on her throne and cusped her face to hold back the tears threatening to break her cool mask.

Emperor of Adrestia,

The woman that I fell in love with known as Edelgard von Hresvelgr is no more.
