Out of The Bag | Ed & Arthur & Kids
“Right, William.”
Arthur bends down to his son’s level and straightens the little button up Molly had bought him-it’s got golden snitches patterned all over it.
“We’re going to meet our new friend Ella in a moment, and what are we going to do?”
“Be patient.” Bill recites dutifully, pulling away from his father fussing with his hair. Arthur smiles at his son.
“Right. Because all this is awfully new to her, and even if she’s shy, that doesn’t mean she’s mad or mean.”
Bill nods, looking behind Arthur into the pet store.
“Right. And then we get a cat?”
Arthur laughs, standing as he sees Ed approach with a tiny girl trailing behind him.
“Then we get a cat, yes. Here they are. Hey mate.” He smiles at Edgar before turning to his daughter-an almost clone of what Arthur was sure Amelia looked like at that age.
“Hi! You must be Ella. I’m Arthur.”
He nudges Bill’s shoulder lightly.
“Go ahead William.”
Bill waves casually.
“Hi. I’m Bill. My dad says I have to be nice to you.”
Arthur laughs despite himself. “Great start, Bill.” He mouths sorry over his son’s head and smiles again at Edgar.
“How was your morning, you two?”
