behind the scenes on cara+iwaoi skype sessions

because timezone is a little bs, they usually only ever get to skype-vid-call on weekends. most of the week they interact thru fb or skype chat or snapchat or whatever available communication app

during the weekends, they usually begin early. at 9am at sara’s place, it is 3 in the afternoon at cee’s, and 4 in the afternoon at iwa and oi’s. while schedules sometimes conflict, this is their general “online begining time.” they just wait on one another and wait til the group chat begins

lots of stuff–literally anything–happens in said group chat.

iwaizumi once woke oikawa up from a beauty nap to announce that group chat had started and the two girls had screeched in surprise because oikawa had a face mask on and the cucumbers on his eyes and all that.

they did not let that go for the rest of the group chat.

iwaizumi is the most “normal” conversationist. he’ll talk about practice and prod the rest to talk about their own days. most often he ends up to be the moderator making sure that conversation flows easily.

oikawa once attempted to teach them how to apply the perfect wingtip eyeliner on the video call. cee poked her eye with her brush and ended up crying into a glass of water.

sara always has a lot of cute things in her room that shows when they video call and it becomes a battle between iwaizumi, oikawa, and cee to see who notices the new things first. (these “new cute things” are often gifts sent over from the three ofc lmao)

the later the video call gets, the more “deep” or serious their conversations get. they can be talking about anything in between cat videos [think, the 11-hr run of irl nekoatsume]  and the reasons on why people exist on this planet. (also: if aliens are real.)

they once tried to vid-call-slash-stream this one korean drama sara and oikawa had insisted they watch together. IT WAS HILARIOUS?

things that brighten up the vid call regularly: oikawa’s bad jokes, sara’s cute laughter

things that SUPER brighten up the vid call but don’t really show often: iwaizumi smiling this big grin smile that lights up the room, cee’s laughter that’s completely quiet but her face is completely contorted in joy rip

STARING CONTESTS ARE NOT EASY IN VIDEO CALLS. It has been proven. Sara remains a reigning champion for some reason.

cee once dared them to stream-watch porn. it was a bad idea. iwaizumi became a tomato. oikawa would not shut up. it was memorable nonetheless.

there is always a chorus of swooning whenever iwa stretches his arms in skype vids like even in the bg or if he’s reaching for something near the webcam. EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. SCREECHES

most often they end really late, and since cee is weak she is the first to conk out, often at 1 to 2 am at her place, depending on how the day has been. (that translates to 2 eor 3 am at iwa and oi’s, and 7pm at sara’s.)

but most of the time they don’t even notice and iwa is the first to say “fuck is that the sun” and order all of them to sleep rip hahaha

daichi, a chris evans kind of personality/celebrity, trying to go on dates with kuroo and the reader, but all their dates end up ruined bc daichi is too nice to say no to his fans, so they usually end up at home doing their thing (blanket forts or pillow fights with votka or hot chocolate, depending on their mood - or yours, when you're writing this)

When the power went out roughly half an hour ago, it was Daichi who had suggested a bit of playtime. A little childish, sure, but watching TV and cuddling and sex really only had so much appeal if done regularly.

The game was like this: Daichi was going to hide in his (expectedly) big house, and you and Kuroo would race to find him first. The twist is you and Kuroo COULD get in the way of one another, and honestly, with Daichi flitting around from room to room, AND knowing secret passageways (he swears there isn’t but you’re SURE there is), more often you find kuroo instead. So you get in his way, letting him slip, distracting him, and the sorts.

However, what was the original weapons of throw pillows and sheets had turned to sprays and then buckets of water and now, apparently, anything the boys could find that they could throw.

Then you are doused by cold water from head to toe; you hadn’t even heard him creeping behind you. “I CANNOT BELIEVE–” you shriek; you see the culprit dashing through the door and away from sight. You take the handtowel hanging on the rack and wipe off the water he’d dumped on you. “TETSU! YOU BETTER NOT COME OUT BECAUSE WHEN I SEE YOU I WILL WRECK YOU!”

“I have no plans on showing myself to you, kitten, it’s far too early for that!” you hear him shout out from the distance.

There’s a gruff voice somewhere on the other end of the room, and you hear Daichi running off, his footsteps clattering: “You’re supposed to catch me, not hit me, you know, Tetsu? Do you know how weird egg stains are on white shirts??”

You laugh at the thought. Daichi, coming up to one of his famed press conferences to talk about his latest movie, all the fangirls screeching at his face and his toned abs (which only you and Kuroo, and maybe the costume/make-up artists involved, can actually touch), the cameras everywhere, flashes bright and white, and then: “Sir, is that egg stain on your shirt?”

Then you hear a clatter; it sounds like a water bucket. From a distance, you hear Kuroo again: “Daichi, they’re laughing at you!”

“Oh we’ll be laughing at YOU soon, Tetsu,” you call out, before you open the fridge to deck out on what you can use. Kuroo is using water, but maybe you can use something different? you fish out two eggs and crack them before putting the gooey yolk and whites in a mug, and take out the chocolate syrup. You’ll get him for sure THIS time.

You hide behind a cabinet, putting down your weapons before reaching out to the other side to grab Daichi by the collar. Surprised, he lets out a yelp before he crashes onto the floor, almost hitting your hidden weapons. His face screams SOS and “GAME OVER” for him, but with a finger to your lips you shush him from shouting out that he’d been caught.

You drizzle a bit of the chocolate on his face; his eyes close at the contact with the cold syrup. You kiss the corner of his lips where a bit had pooled, and then grin at him. “How about let’s get back at Tetsu together?”

Kuroo is doomed for sure.

this is for you sara, so it’s for a female reader. i may or may have missed out on the point of the entire request BUT it’s the BEACH so

i made it nameless so you guys can insert yourself too still anyway

Summer. It was the second day on your weekend out-of-town trip. It was seven in the morning, and you were in the kitchen with Yachi preparing a basket of goods to bring to the seaside. Oikawa waltzes in, humming some tune, leaving a kiss on you and Yachi’s cheeks before peering into the basket the two of you were preparing. All sorts of food from sandwiches to–(he gasps!)–milk bread were in there. His mouth was watering.

He was wearing mint-blue swim trunks, a white button-down sure(that you are sure he’s going to button down for real at the beach, what a show-off) and shades perched at the top of his head. He looks just about 500% ready to go. “Hey, ____, aren’t you getting dressed?”

You frown at him. “I am dressed,” you say.

Now it was his turn to frown. You were wearing a nice frilly top, sure, just as relaxed as you should be with that design, but the denim shorts you were wearing that almost touched your knees told him something was off. “You’re not going to go for a dip?”

“W-well,” you say, defensive, “I’m not dressed for a dip now am I?”

At that he grins. Insufferable, unbeatable Oikawa. “Hitoka-chan, do you need any more help with the basket?”

The blonde looks up from the sandwich she was putting inside a container. You look back and forth at the two of them. “Oh, we’re done, actually, Tooru,” she says, smiling.

“Great then!” In a moment, Tooru has your wrist in his hand and whispers in your ear: “If it’s about you getting dressed, you know I’m the best at that.” He moves away to call out to Yachi once more. “I’ll go find some swimwear for her, okay?”

“I’ll tell Kouta,” Yachi nods in agreement, her eyes with an expression that said ‘I’m so sorry but I’m going to let Oikawa have his way in this one’ as Oikawa dragged you out into the seaside shops right nearby.

This was Yachi’s relatives’ hometown, and you were all borrowing a small house they kept open to tourists who wanted to rent it just for that weekend together. You would have wanted to stay longer, but Oikawa and Bokuto would not be parted from volleyball too long, and you respected that. Just five minutes walk away from the actual beach, Oikawa dragged you along the sand, making a beeline to a tourist shop that you had spotted yesterday and had actually entered already. He headed straight to the swimwear collection and started looking through the display, hand not letting go of your wrist lest you attempt to escape.

With a sigh, you stop trying to pull away and come closer to him, with which he pulls you closer to him, hand on your waist.

“You bought a red crab necklace here yesterday, right?” he says, as the store attendant only watched the two of you burst in wide-eyed.

“Y-yes I did,” you admit.

Tooru grins. “Then I’ve found just what set will suit you!”

The two of you meet Yachi and Bokuto at your arranged meeting spot. You’d all watched the sunrise together that morning, and had decided to meet at roughly that same area again. The shore over there was a bit more rocky than sandy, but there was so much less people that you honestly didn’t mind the walk. Wrapped in your new outfit, Oikawa had carried you in his arms (“so you don’t bruise your feet!”) and the two of you were making your way to the other two who had gone on ahead.

“Tooru! ____!” Yachi called out, waving her hands in large arcs over her head. Even from that distance, you can hear Bokuto whistling meaningfully to the wind. You see Oikawa grin from where your face is pressed against his chest. Your face is basically burning.

“Sorry we’re late,” Oikawa says, as he settles you down on the mat Yachi had laid out. You curl up into a ball the moment he lets you go. He chuckles. “Aww c'mon, ___-chan, we’ve agreed you look good in this.”

There was light and excitement in Bokuto’s tone. “You gave her a wardrobe change!” There was also some sort of thankfulness. You hear him coming closer to you. “Let me see let me see let me see let me see please? Please? Please? For Kouta? Please!”

You look up at him from under your bangs and sigh sharply. “I’m blaming you for this, Tooru,” you say with a huff, as you slowly disentangle yourself to stand up.

Oikawa has a proud smile. “Curse me all you want, I’m taking all the blame for making you look even more irresistible than you already are.”

Bokuto’s breath catches in his throat and Yachi’s gasp makes her face go all red she has to cover her face with her hands. Oikawa’s smile is one that reassures.

He’d made you wear a loose, semi-translucent summer dress that reached below your knees but with a slit that went right up to halfway through your thigh. Underneath it, the red-and-white waist-high two-piece swimsuit showed beautifully. You were even wearing the necklace you bought.

If Bokuto was drawn he’d have hearts on his eyes. He throws you double thumbs-ups and Yachi looks like she’s about to faint.

“See?” Oikawa grins. He kisses you on the cheek. “I told you you’d look nice. Now c'mon, let’s go for a swim.”
