2005 Sbragia "Monte Rosso" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a 13 year old 100% Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is loaded with an intense earthiness with notes of cedar, spice, black currant, black cherry, eucalyptus and menthol. Full-bodied, dense, powerful, and finessed tannins, it is a beautiful North Coast Cabernet. Rich, intense, licorice, graphite and eucalyptuson the palate. Minerally and a solid acidity givies the wine life and verve while being smooth and opulent. Say hello to the 2009 Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon Wall Vineyard from Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley. The 2009 Sbragia Wall Vineyard Cab is delicious! Offering black cherries, cassis, spices, herbs, menthol, licorice, chocolate and minerals. Full bodied, powerful, concentrated and plush, but with just enough acidity to keep the wine lively. The finish is long with chocolate and dark fruits. The 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc blend was racked into small French oak barrels where it aged for about two years prior to bottling. At 1800 ft elevation, Wall’s vineyard on Mt. Veeder is an ideal spot for growing classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. An old site that was replanted in 1998, the vineyard is a series of steep hillsides and volcanic soils. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines produce small clusters of deeply concentrated grapes. Sbragaia Family Winery in Dry Creek Valley dates back to 1904. Sbragia's mission has been to grow and produce big, distinctive and balanced wines that celebrate the family’s four generations of grape growing and winemaking in Sonoma and Napa. The Sbragia family history in Sonoma County dates back to their grandfather, who came from Tuscany in 1904 where be worked at Italian Swiss Colony. In the 1950s their father Gino Sbragia planted winegrapes, mainly Zinfandel. His son, Ed Sbragia, helped tend the vines as a boy. Gino sold most of the grapes to other wineries, but kept some to make his own wine. Gino had an old-world philosophy that winemaking was a natural process and all you need for good wine was good land, grapes and techniques. He was right. Gino’s dream was to start a family winery. In August 2006, Ed opened Sbragia Family Vineyards. After 32 years as the Winemaster at Beringer Vineyard in Napa Valley, Ed is a highly decorated winemaker who both loves and makes wines from Sonoma and Napa that are expressions of single vineyard terroir.
