Nominations now open for the Education Network Awards!

We are currently open for nominations for the Education Network Awards 2017!

Over the course of a module, students can find themselves disappointed with the teaching, feedback or organisation of the module. This can lead to intense dissatisfaction with their academic experience over the course of their degree. Luckily we have an army of academic representatives whose duty it is to feedback and help solve the issues with your course! These academic representatives make up the Education Network, a group of around 900 students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) working for the good of yours, and future students’ experience here at the University of Nottingham.

We have Course Reps, Education Reps, Faculty Reps and the Postgraduate Sounding Board all working at different levels of the University’s academic management using your feedback to create change. These can be small changes such as changing the week that a specific lecture is delivered within a module, or these can be huge sweeping changes such as full programme or course reviews and the total implementation of lecture capture. Either way, these individuals have you at heart.

To thank them for their work across this academic year, the Education Network Awards has been set up to give our top academic representatives the recognition they deserve. There are 11 awards in total which are open for nominations as we seek to find the very best of the Education Network.

If you’ve had a Course Rep who has supported you throughout the year gathering feedback, providing updates from their meetings and, most importantly, lobbying for change on your behalf, nominate them for the Course Rep of the Year award! Likewise, we’re looking for your top Education Reps, Faculty Reps and our best Schools and Departments to put their head above the crowd.

Perhaps you aren’t aware who your academic representatives are which is a huge shame as I’m sure they’ve been committed to improving your academic experience this year. We are always working to improve the awareness of our lovely army of academic representatives so if you’ve ever had an issue on your course and wished you knew how to sort it out, you should get involved!

Course Reps are elected at the beginning of the Autumn Term so if you are interested in getting involved, look out for more information during Welcome Week in September. We’ve already elected most of your Education Reps and Faculty Reps for the next academic year and you can find out who they are at the Education Network site, although we do still have a handful of vacancies and you might be able to fill in the gap!
