Your daily reminder to fuck what everyone else is doing and laser focus on you this week. Make sure you're taking steps in the direction of your dreams. Even if its baby steps, ensure you're moving forward. Make little goals and tick them off. Hold yourself accountable. Stop making these grand-goals that you feel guilty for not achieving. If you want to write a book, start with a sentence per day if that’s all you can manage, it might seem small but brick-by-brick is how a house is built. Stop giving your dream vision so much energy and worrying about not moving forward, instead take actual-fucking-actions. Today. Let’s go!

Maybe it's just me but I don't see how anyone can watch what's going on in the world rn and not contribute or say anything about it. Idk how you can see what you've see, and hear what you've heard and not have the burning desire to do better. Or to at least try to make change. It's disappointing yeah but, it's mostly sad.

It’s a new year with a new sense of urgency to continue making art and try to safely get back to life. Over the past months it has been challenging to put meaningful purpose to art making, but to quote @jerrysaltz’s recent message to artists, “Your mood swings of lockdown don’t matter. Get to work you big babies. xo.” That quote hits home for me. Putting in “the work” has built longevity into my art career and has been a major factor in the successes I have had, both great and small. (often it is the small successes that mean the most.) Hello! I am a legally blind author and I create stories for children with disabilities. Every character I create will be based off a real person that I worked closely with to ensure they can see what they never got to growing up. As a previous daycare teacher I couldn’t help but notice how little books there were for children with these special abilities, and they noticed as well. As my eyesight worsened I had to leave that job I loved so much, but I decided this is not where my journey will end when it comes to advocating for children. That is why I created Bunny Tales and Mermaid Scales. I have unreleased books and have been getting asked why I haven’t self published them. My reasoning is I will work hard towards working with an agent to ensure that these books can be available for everyone and in schools. As a legally blind women, I think it’s time for our community to be seen in the light with every other children's book. Let’s make waves!

We live in a world where when I, a South Asian woman with a similar skin tone is called racial slurs, degraded and overall marginalized for it.... a British young woman artificially applying this skin tone has thousands of likes and comments telling her how beautiful she is.

I know the world isn’t a fair place. But these so called “influences” do have a responsibility and a hand in the way the world is today.

I beg people with a wider audience to talk about this and get the message across for the sake of both this young girl and for people of all skin tones.
