edward came bounding up to the younger girl and pulled into a hug, lifting her off the ground and spinning her around. “carlisle just told me--well he didn’t tell me, but he thought it so you know i heard it my own way--about you joining us, welcome to the family sis,” he said, putting her down, a large grin on his face. he knew that carlisle had been debating whether or not to let the girl into their coven, and he was glad that he had decided to let her join. “what’s your first order of business as an official cullen?”

of course riley was back too. this was getting to be ridiculous; all the dead vampires who had threatened his beloved, one of the very limited number of people in the world he loved unconditionally, were back. all he needed to run into was laurent and james, and then they could probably form a club or something. the worst though, was hearing into their minds, listening to the vulgar and violent thoughts they thought about his family. it was enough to nearly drive him back to violence. “if you’re going to be a jerk, at least keep your thoughts to yourself. and i’m sure your ‘loving significant other’ has communicated this message to you already, but you are to leave forks immediately. you are not welcome here.”

edward remember the day victoria died like it was yesterday. he remembered the conversation he had with jacob in the tent as bella was trying not to freeze, remembered the fight with her, her boytoy, seth, and himself, remembered the flames that burned her remains to ensure she would never come back. but now, here she was, standing right in front of him, and edward was beyond angry. this was the woman who had tried to take his reason for living from him, the woman who’s need for vengeance overtook every other part of her personality. she was not welcome back into the cullen’s lives, he wouldn’t let her ruin the life they had all built with each other. “you need to go back to whatever hell you crawled out of and never come back here again, we will not tolerate you coming back here.”

starter for @sculmatcs – bella

every time he looked at her, it was like the first time. well, maybe not the first time, when he spent the entirety of biology suffocating himself in her scent, gripping the table so that he didn’t lose what little control he had. more like the first time he saw her clearly, the first time he could truly look at her without wanting to kill a classroom full of students, the first time he noticed the way her hair looked when the sun reflected off of it, or the way her eyes lit up when she smiled. 

this time was no different than any of the others. the two were heading home from some elaborate hospital benefit carlisle had forced them to attend, edward in the driver’s seat and bella seated next to him, one of his hands placed delicately right above her knee. he sneaked a glance at her  and couldn’t help but smile as he saw her staring out the window, seemingly content. although at first it was frustrating, now he relished the quiet in his mind whenever he was with bella. he had learned to appreciate silence.

“thank you for coming with me tonight,” he said, his eyes flickering back to the road in front of him. “i know it meant a lot to carlisle to have us there.”
