I watched as Ed fell to the floor, taking the hit that was aimed at me. Trying to stand from the ground, I make to move and protect him, but Alphonse is already standing between his brother and our attacker.

“Ed, are you okay?!” I took him by the arm and helped him sit up.

My eyes quickly landed on Alphonse, relieved to see he was handling it well on his won, before checking on Ed again. 

“Yeah…” There was more resignation than pain in his voice as he replied.

He rubbed his head in what seemed embarrassment, perhaps for my concerned staring. I pushed my hand against his shoulder in outrage.

“Ed, why did you do that?!” 

“I said I’m fine…”

I clicked my tongue, even if just to hide the fact that my heart was racing. Seeing him fall like that and thinking he could be badly hurt scared me deeply. And knowing it was just to protect me only made it worse.

“Are you an idiot?” 

Edward finally looked up at me, since he had been avoiding my eyes. When our gazes met, he showed me an innocent grin that tried to soothe my anger.

“When it comes to you, yeah I am” He chuckled to further lighten the mood.

“Don’t give me that, Edward Elric” I pulled at his arm until the both of us were standing. “Stop being so reckless” 

I took a step to help Alphonse in the fight, but Ed tugged at my arm.

“And you be careful” His expression suddenly turned serious as he lovingly squeezed my elbow. “Please”

I gawked at him, surprised by the concern dripping from his voice. But Edward was already running to his brother and using his alchemy to win the fight.

“Did he just wink at me?”

Edward Kenway. All the women in the industry lusted after him. Not say you didn’t, but you knew a man like him had better things to attend to than your up-and-coming self. Shrugging off the thought you went back to dressing. After you dressed, you walked out to the set and saw Kenway talking with the Director. 

He lifted his head to look around, noticing you standing where you were. A smirk crossed his face before he looked back down at the script. 

Confused you looked around to see if he had seen the lead female role. But you were the only one standing in his immediate line of sight. When you looked back at him, he was looking again. The smirk still across his face, he quickly winked his left eye. You were taken aback as you questioned what had just happened, “Did he just wink at me, or am I looking too much into this?” 

After his little chat, he walked towards you. “Hey. Are you busy later today?”

Your knees felt a bit weak as he loomed slightly over you. His blonde hair draping over his face ever so slightly, “No. Why?”

“How about we go somewhere for dinner?”

A/N: Modern Edward, ahoy!

“I’ll wake you up when we’re there”

“Edward!” You called out as you folded up another shirt, placing it tactfully in the suitcase. “Are you done packing?” You questioned him as he walked into the room. 

He groaned slightly as he nodded, “Yeah, but do we really have to go? You said you hated high school.”

“I did. But I want to show you off to everyone.” You joked as he hugged you from behind.

An hour into your trip, you began to doze off. You didn’t like the idea of Edward driving without you too help keep him awake, but the late hour began to take its toll. Noticing your drooping head, Edward spoke up, “Why don’t you just sleep? You have been up all day.”

“I’ll be okay. I don’t want you to drive without someone to talk to.” You whined as rubbed your eyes.

“It’ll be fine. I took a nap earlier. Sleep, I’ll wake you up when we’re there.” Nodding, you leaned your head against the window.

It felt like only a few minutes passed before he was lightly shaking you. “Y/N wake up.” The car was stopped and he was standing outside, “Come here. Look at this.”

Tiredly, you got out of the car and yawned, “What is-” You stood speechless as you looked up to the sky, millions of stars lit up your eyes. “This is. Amazing.”

Edward wrapped his arms around your waist and rested his head on your shoulder, “I thought you might like it.” Lightly kissing your shoulder, you two stood there a bit longer as you admired the night sky.

Nassu was bustling. Despite the King’s attempts to tame it, the city was still as wild as it could ever be. The tavern was the place to be for drinks, music, and a bit of love if you looked hard enough. 

“Y/N!” Kidd motioned for you to come over as the true party began.

You grabbed a mug and looked for a place to sit. Shrugging at the failed attempt, you decided to just stand at the bar. After a few minutes, you noticed Edward and the others sitting at a table. You walked over and stood next to the blonde pirate.

“Hey, how are you enjoying Nassu?” Edward asked as you were looking around.

“It’s something else. It is so lively.” A smile drew across your face as you turned your attention to him.

“Why don’t you sit down? You are gonna get tired of standing.” 

“Well all the more comfortable spots are taken.”

He smirked as an idea crossed his mind, “You can sit on my lap, if you want.” He patted his leg as he offered the seat.

Blushing slightly, you shrugged and lightly sat on his lap. Your blush grew as he wrapped an arm around your waist. As you tried to make it less awkward for yourself, you out your arm behind his neck.

He smiled up at you, “Not a bad seat, right?”

“Of course not.”
