Ive always hated that Bella had no say in Edward's decision to leave. This was after all something he did strictly to protect her. If they had been more open with each other, he would have expressed how leaving would always be in his mind anyway, how he just needed to at least attempt it once. Bella would have listened to his needs and they would have gotten a much better closing, even temporarily.
Maybe they could set a date, like a week from then. And then during that week they'd get to do their favorite things one last time. They'd snuggle together while she reads books and he plays with her hair, they'd sit in the Volvo and listen to claire de lune as the sun set, he'd play her lullaby in the piano again and again and each time she'd wipe fresh tears off her face and ask him to play it just one last time.
Then they'd spend their last day at the meadow, both so emotional and crying, then they kiss and it gets too intense and she climbs on top of him and he's so reluctant but she begs him not to pushed her away and she rubs against him and they moan into each others mouths and lock eyes and they come together and it's everything. And then he says he'll never forget the way she looks right now, he'll never forget her. They mutter words of love until is starts to get dark.
He carries her home and she revels the feeling one last time. On the porch they kiss and say they'll never forget, and then he walks off into the twilight, and finally she realizes he had been right all along; twilight truly was that saddest time of day.
