‘Movie Monday’ is a blog post I share every Monday talking about the 3
movies that have caught my attention to the most that week. Sharing how
their plots, how their trailers attracted me and what the critics have to say
about them (if it’s already released).
You can click on the name of the movie to see the trailer.
A Simple Favor centers around Stephanie, a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's sudden disappearance from their small town.
Starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in the lead roles.
With Henry Golding in the supporting role.
Paul Feig is a great director and I admire his body of work quite a lot (which is basically limited to comedy), therefore I’m happy to see him branching out to other genres. And even though going for thriller was quite a jump, I can’t say I’m not intrigued.
The casting looks good and all in all, I don’t have any problem with the trailer, but I have to say that I don’t know what to expect. Some directors are successfully able to make that genre leap and others, not to much. I only hope the best and not only because I like him but also because we’d get to see a good film!
2. The Happy Prince (2018)
The untold story of the last days in the tragic times of Oscar Wilde, a person who observes his own failure with ironic distance and regards the difficulties that beset his life with detachment and humor.
Starring Rupert Everett in the lead role.
With supporting roles by Emily Watson, Colin Firth, Colin Morgan and Edwin Thomas.
We have seen some handful of movies about Oscar Wilde now, but it’s quite clear that writers are simply fascinated by him and for good reason, he was not only a talented person but led a painfully tragic life!
As for this movie, well, it looks beautiful. Rupert Everett also wrote and directed it and all in all, it does look quite emotionally charged. Event the trailer couldn’t hide how stunning the lighting and cinematography is. It genuinely looks like something of a different time and period; and that has me very interested.
Jared is the son of a small-town Baptist pastor who gets outed to his parents at age 19. He's soon faced with an ultimatum -- attend a gay conversion therapy program or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends and faith.
Starring Lucas Hedges in the main role.
With Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Théodore Pellerin, Joel Edgerton and Troye Sivan.
Lucas Hedges is a part of this new crop of emerging actors that all the cinephiles better keep an eye on. Until now, his film choices have been exceptional and his upcoming projects also look great. He is a big reason why I’ll be watching Boy Erased. Other reasons are Nicole Kidman and the story. The trailer was very moving and I’m sure the movie is going to be 10x more, but I’m so ready for it.
I have a very good feeling about this one, it looks well-made.
