Banana eel - Gymnothorax miliaris

Banana. Banana eel... (aka Goldentail Moray)

They can be found in the Gulf of México and they can lenght 70 cm, equal to 3.937 bananas according to banana for scale.

They use their sense of smell to catch prey, they are active hunters during the day and ambush predators at night.

They vary in color from brown, yellow and pale yellow, their spots can vary in size and distribution too.

The commercial eels of this species are bred to exhibit more vibrant colors and to resemble bananas even more.
