twenty years of Neil banging out the tunes!
I made a frankenplush version featuring him in his Glam Rock era:
(I didn't have a Fisher Price keyboard so I borrowed a kalimba instead)

Hand made and sewn out of felt
creator & creature 🍁
pipecleaner dolls crafted by me ✨
Conjoined bunnies :]
I got these two as individual plushies from the op shop a while ago and have only just gotten around to sewing them together
(I also might give 'em away at some point as I'm not terribly attached, but if anything I'm glad I managed to finish another almost forgotten project)
two-headed dog plush!

Leverage, Adventure Time and the Tiny Chef show
Eliot Leverage would beat the shit out of and / or psychologically terrorise the Nickelodean execs who cancelled Tiny Chef, but Jake the Dog would just straight up kill them. He wouldn't even use his standard excuse of "I didn't know it was wrong", he'd just be like "I murdered them" and then play a little tune on his viola.
This video has crushed me, I've started work on a Tiny Chef plushie of my own just so I can give the little guy a hug!
Gotta make his hat (my partner very kindly donated one of his old work shirts), hem the apron and pop a little pocket on there.
caterpillar :3
I’ve had this planned since nov last year but it was a really quick project once I had all the donor parts! Caterpillar is made out of three mini cat beanie babies: Chip, Prance, and Pounce. I used a ladder stitch to put him together and he is 14 inches long including tail. He has a really nice weight and sound bc I reused as much of the PE pellets as I could!
Bride of Stimpy: Ren & Stimpy’s Cinematic Roots in James Whale.
The creation of the Happy Helmet in The Ren & Stimpy episode, Stimpy’s Invention, is one of the most most memorable sequences in TV animation — a manic descent into cartoon horror. Its DNA? James Whale’s Bride of Frankenstein (1935).
The Dutch angles echo Whale’s compositions. while the shots of Stimpy hard at work in the lab mirror Pretorius and Frankenstein. Many are almost directly lifted from Bride’s creation scene.
Those electricity shots aren’t just homage — they’re lifted straight from Bride. What makes it brilliant is that Spümcø didn’t parody horror movies in general; they specifically tapped into Whale’s Bride of Frankenstein.
Unlike Animaniacs, Stimpy's Invention uses these references within the context of an original story — one that works whether or not you recognize the visual grammar from the most iconic mad scientist scene ever filmed.
So when we consider Stimpy’s Invention, it’s not just homage or reference — it’s John K & co learning from the masters of cinema, not just cartoons, to create something completely new and unique.
