Random headcanon of the day: Rolf can make a mean neapolitan pizza

OBSERVATION TIME!!!! Rolf does not know how to swim. Every time we see him in water, he's either in shallow water and is standing on his feet, or he's clinging to something that floats. Not to mention that he looks terrified in the first picture.

The swimming hole isn't very deep, so he feels fine in there. But the community pool seems to be a WHOLE deep end, so that must've been stressful for him, but he sucked it up and kept to himself as to not get made fun of... especially by a certain fake friend shovel chin dork we all know 😒 This could also explain why he likes synchronized swimming so much. He would watch others preform back in his home country, and he wishes he could swim himself, but he never learned how to do it properly.

Do you have any interesting headcanons about the characters' families (the eds and the other kids)? I sometimes see more similar, recurring opinions, so I'm curious to hear any unusual or left field ideas.

I think I pretty much share the fandom headcanons, but honestly I'm not sure :0

I def think all three Eds have some form of abusive parents. Ed's parents are neglectful of Ed, and often listen to Sarah over him. Sarah gets a really nice room while Ed has the basement. When he doesn't do well in school they don't even try to work something out with him, they just send him to his Aunt. That coupled with my headcanon that Ed is Autistic, I just don't view his parents in a good light. They don't seem to want to help Ed through his learning disability, instead they seem to have already accepted failure.

Double Dee's parent are just never there, as we've seen, only communicating with their son through sticky notes. They still have such high expectations of him with little interaction.

Now with Eddy, I get the feeling that his parents are the reason his bro ran away. They might seem fine on the surface, but I think there's a hidden layer of manipulative behavior going on here that could be very damaging. His own father's biggest concern is that he becomes a figure skater. HIS GREATEST CONCERN is over what his own son wants to do with his life like it's not his god damn job to support his kids in whatever they want to do.

Not only that but let's look at eddy's bro, shall we? We don't see any trace of him in the house besides his room. There's even a scene, I think in BPS but I could be wrong, where we pass a line of family portraits in Eddy's house and we see silhouettes of Eddy, his mom and dad... but no bro. His brother's room is also sealed off via wall paper from the rest of the house?? Like they were trying to hide it. His room is sealed off with bricks. Bricks over the window, which yea could be his bro being edgy, but the heating vent? I feel like his parents were the ones responsible for the bricks, to keep his bro from getting out of his own room. Especially after they find the heat vent bricks after pointing out that the vent could lead to an escape. Something not quite right is up with Eddy's parents, and I hope to be able to explore that in my fanfic tbh.

As for the other kids, I have less opinions on.

I saw a headcanon about Kevin's folks that they're split, and Kevin lives with his dad, I liked that one.

I feel like Rolf's family is very matriarchal, with how much he talks about his nana/ great nana etc.

Jimmy's family seems like the chillest of the bunch if they're actively supporting their son playing dress up and buying stuffed animals. In my version of their adult selves where Jimmy is NB, they actively support their kid with all their heart. Probably the best parents in the whole cul-de-sac.

Jonny's folks are probably hippies, life-loving folk who are just along for life's ride. They aren't bad to their son, but some people might see their carefree ways as such.

Let's be honest, the Kanker's mom is probably a hooker which is where the Kankers themselves learned that kind of behavior. Probably how the Kankers were born too lol. (for the record I don't have a negative opinion of sex workers. Do what ya gotta do n all that, queens and kings!)

Here's one of my biggest Kankers headcanons. I've sketched a little backstory of Marie's hair.

Since she was 8 years old she was really close to Lee and she always tried to act and look like her. Lee's pois shirt was actually a long dress and their mother had cut it in half so they could share it.

But at some point the two ended up in a huge fight and, in a fit of rage, Marie decided she had enough, ripping and destroying every similarity with her oldest sister.

They're still close but deep down Lee's still bitter about it.

Eddy is at a loss for why the scam did not work. He claims that his own father is quite successful in the field of selling cars.

So, that’s where Eddy, and even Bro, get their genes for selling.

I like Eddy’s Father. He’s implied to be a gruff man, but I think he’s really kind at heart. He and his oldest son didn’t have the healthiest of relationships. Bro didn’t even feel comfortable about talking to his own father about relationships. That’s a reason why he has all those advice manuals. And since Eddy is not one to talk about his feelings we can only guess that Eddy’s father is also not in touch with his feelings. 

We only see him once and it’s a memorable appearance. In Mission Ed-Possible viewers see his gorilla-like arm grabbing Eddy and pulling him into the house to have a long talk about school grades. Eddy’s mother also has similar features. It’s ironic seeing how Eddy is so small.

Which is why I believe that Eddy was born prematurely. He was quite short for a three-year-old according to the height graph in a season 1 episode. Eddy has always been uncomfortable about his height, And have different physical features from his whole family makes him feel like the outcast. 

And then Eddy actually believes the reason for the failure in the scam is because of the tie. Does his dad wear a tie in business needs?

Eddy finally rants off pointing the reason behind the failed bike scam is due to constructing bike parts out of kitchenware. And he also states that it took TEN HOURS to construct this whole scam. This has to be Edd being over dramatic. He could mean that it just took all morning and now it’s late afternoon.

“Ten hours of hard work! And for what?”

Ed: To fleece the masses!

Gotta love Ed humor. He’s only trying to cheer up his friends. Ed never likes to see them argue. 

Edd then begins to express his disgust over how life has become so monotonous. Edd starts to step out of the line from being an Ed in season 3. His character arc has expanded. Edd is also less passive, and he speaks his mind more. He has Ed and Eddy to thank for that. His parents were no help to him, keeping him in the dark and never letting him have a free speech. 

This is also ironic seeing how Edd lives his life by routine. If something were to deter his schedule, it sets him off. Edd is only trying to understand life, but he feels as though he has come to a standstill once more. Edd is not mad at Edd and Eddy. He is only frustrated with himself and the world. It’s canon that Edd does enjoy doing the scams. As I have said, the scams have become routine.

And then Edd ends his rant that the scams are a pipedream.

Pipedream -  An unattainable or fanciful hope or scheme.

Ed misinterprets what Edd says and confesses that he too has dreams about pipes. 

I have done a little research on the meaning of having pipe dreams and there are a few answers.

Dreaming of pipes could also refer to water leakage which symbolizes leaking of emotions or loss of power. It might symbolize an emotional situation in waking life that seems to be out of control.

Or a pipe dream can also refer to fantasizing about pipes.

The first option heavily sounds the most like Ed’s character and his home life. It also does resemble Edd’s, too. So what Ed is saying is that he knows how Edd feels and that he is here for him. How sweet! And sad at the same time.

All Eddy comments is, “Boy, Ed, who’d a thought?”

Season 3 is also the first instance where the Eds friendship is starting to slip. However, it’s not as bad by the time season 4 and 5 come around. Due to their changes in personality, and growing up, their friendship has been starting to deter.
