Hearteon & Poiseon

The Heart Pokemon & The Poison Fur Pokemon

Evolves via Heart of the Sun & Heart of the Moon respectively

Another sun and moon pair! These guys are based off beta/old versions of Espeon and Umbreon.

Beta Espeon used to evolve via the Heart Stone and had a yellow appearance and fully split tails. Beta Umbreon used to be a poison type with purple markings and thinner rings.

I did add some of my own flair though, particularly with Hearteon’s markings, Hearteon’s heart-shaped gem, and Poiseon’s poison drop shaped markings. I also added the dark type to Poiseon to help it fit better with the moon and added the fairy type to Hearteon to make it also a dual type.

I also referenced the gender differences they had in the Gen IV beta, where female Espeon and Umbreon had short ears. I’m glad this change didn’t get through beta, but it helped me add another detail to differentiate them further. Their shinies are also based off the Stadium 2 shinies of Espeon and Umbreon.

I will admit, I struggled slightly with their item. I almost considered using the beta Heart Stone and Poison Stone, but decided against it. I feel gameplay wise, the Shards fit best, since I could see these guys being Gales of Darkness exclusive. But, I already used the Shards and also I do think the Hearts fit nicely. Both because of Hearteon’s heart theme and because these guys are very much a tribute to Espeon and Umbreon through the years.

Also want to give a quick note to RacieBeep and how his interpretations of beta Espeon and beta Umbreon from their sprites really helped me, particularly with the whiskers and ears of Hearteon being connected and Poiseon’s eyes!

Griffeon

The inevitable griffon pokemon! Always like making pokemon based off mythical creatures, especially ones that haven’t already been included in pokemon yet. Griffon and pegasus are always the main ones I’ve thought were missing, though I doubt I’ll do an eeveelution based on the latter.

There’s honestly not many evolution methods out there where I can try to justify a primarily Flying type based design, so I take the opportunity when I can. I think currently there’s only one other that I can say with certainty will be a Flying type evolution…

Probably learns Wing Attack upon evolution!

Perfumeon

The Aromatic Pokemon

Evolves via Trade while holding Sachet

Apologies for delay, just haven’t really been working on this for a while despite the fact I have a bit of a backlog! Will post something at the normal time this weekend too.

Pretty simple one, just a fancy skunk! I love the Stunky line so wanted to give them a friend. Plus skunk is a pretty obvious answer for what to make a scent based pokemon.

Anyway, learns Sweet Scent upon evolution!

Waspeon

The Poison Sting Pokemon

Evolves via using Barb Barrage 20 times

Apologies for being a bit late posting this, didn’t get around to getting a queue’d since I’ve had a rough week.

Anyway! Our first bug type vee! Unsure how many there will end up being total, bug is a bit of a toughie. I decided a move like Barb Barrage was a great opportunity to do one since it made me think of stingers.

Design wise, I like how this turned out! I initially had wings but decided they made it a bit too busy. I also tried to make the markings act as both a wasp’s signature stripes while also giving the look of the body being segmented without actually segmenting the body. The shiny was vaguely based off ants!

I will say the evolution method is a bit of a tricky one. There’s technically three different variants of evolution based around the move ‘Barb Barrage’ since Overqwil’s evolution method is slightly different each game, but I admittedly don’t really want to do three different evolutions based on that move. For now, I am thinking of just doing this one and deciding that the other two variants are close enough they don’t need independent ones, BUT if I get other ideas I’ll go for them. Right now they’re low priority.

Lycaneon & Vampeon

Evolves via Level Up While Holding the Razor Claw or Razor Fang at Night

A bit late uploading this! Only just finished writing the pokedex entries and this blurb. I don’t have too much to note, I decided pretty early that a werewolf and vampire theme fit these two methods.

As a note for abilities, I decided to have them have a 30% boost ability for their main one and a 50% for their hidden, but you could argue that Lycaneon’s especially could be switched. Vampeon gets the new signature ability Ravenous that boosts draining moves’ power by 30%. I also would probably with Vampeon introduce a ghost type draining move, since there are so many ghost pokemon that are said to drain life force already.

Also worth noting that the blog inprogresspokemon has also done vampire and werewolf themed eeveelutions! I’d seen them before but tried not to look at them again until I had these solidly sketched out.

Porceleon & Kintseon

Hey it’s been a while! I actually had this done AGES ago, but I accidentally deleted the post and lost the written description and just lost motivation to rewrite it. But finally got around to it! Will try to get the next one out at a normal time.

Anyway, I decided to actually go the route of a porcelain doll that you’d have a tea party with over an actual teapot based one, cause that was more interesting to me.

I also initially had them switched conceptually, because I wanted Kintseon to be rarer, but when I remembered that Chipped Pots are less damaged and more rare, I realized I could switch it so Kintseon are just becoming more and more common over time instead. Kintseon is based on Kintsugi, which is a method of repairing something using gold.

Porceleon learns Teatime upon evolution, Kintseon learns Trick-or-Treat.

Evolves Via Level Up knowing Ancient Power

Hello everyone! It’s been a bit. Don’t worry though, I’ve been working hard since my last post on here - I have nine more completed! All I need to do is make the infographics for them and then they can be queue’d up to post once a week again. Which at this point is probably my biggest barrier when it comes to making them, it’s hard to write dex entries sometimes :p

Anyway, Historeon! Not really too much to say, though something inspired by fossils and past paradox pokemon made sense for the Ancient Power evolution. To a level, I almost consider it a pair with Mecheon, with that one being a robot inspired by the future paradox pokemon.

Still figuring out an evolution move for this guy!

Sootheon

The Extinguish Pokemon

Evolves via Burn Heal

Another non-canon evolution! I know I should probably prioritize canon ones over the non-canon and semi-canon ones, but in my defense they are very fun.

Anyway - this is derived from the glitch in GSC where the Moon Ball checks if a pokemon can evolve via the Burn Heal rather than the Moon Stone. This does mean that technically, if this evolution were real, Eevee would be the only pokemon with an improved catch rate via the Moon Ball in GSC.

I chose to go with a bit of a healing aesthetic here - with the pink main color and the swoopy ears looking similar to Nurse Joy. It’s white fluff is meant to look both like smoke and the foam from a fire extinguisher.

It’s fire typing is due to it gaining a bit of an affinity to fire from being burned in order to evolve, since that’s the only way to use a Burn Heal on it. It also means it’s now immune to burns!

It learns Heal Bell upon evolution.
