What is it about French skincare that’s so attractive?
This is something I ask myself every day.
For some reason lately, I’ve been addicted to the grand world of French skincare. Every chance I get, I stalk my way through the drugstore aisles looking at any and every French brand I can find.
I don’t know if it’s because I associate France with stereotypical romantic ideals, or if it’s because French models are always elusively glamorous, it’s hard to tell. Though my mother often tells me that French pharmacies are quite the places to visit, so that probably comes into it as well.
Anyway, I decided I had to try something for myself. So I bought La Roche Posay’s ‘Effaclar 3 Step Anti-Blemish system’, which contains this ‘Purifying Cleansing Gel’. The set is specifically for those with acne-prone, sensitive skin - perfect for me and for many young people alike.
As this cleanser is a gel, it feels very lightweight on the skin and lathers up into a gentle foam. It doesn’t feel like it’s stripping the skin of any natural oils, but provides a lovely, deep clean that gets rid of impurities and grime.
It also contains thermal spring water - an ingredient often used in French skincare as it’s mineral-rich and claims to soothe skin.
I find that some foamy cleansers can leave your skin feeling dry and tight, but not this one. It’s non-irritating, clarifying and a solid way to start off your skincare regime. J’adore.
