How Implementing Simple Strategies Helped Effektiv Lernen Achieve Excellence in Private Tutoring?
Private Tutoring is a growing business with parents willing to spend hundreds just to make their children pass their examinations. It’s good to value your children’s education but the real question still remains – is are getting your money worth?
While selecting a tutor for your children, you are presented with three choices.
1. Do I need a tutor who can make your children pass their test?
2. Do I need a tutor who can actually make my children learn something?
3. Can I have both?
Now let’s address each choice individually.
1. Sadly, almost all parents prefer a coach who can make their kid pass the test. I have met many parents whose real concern is only to make their children pass the test. There is nothing wrong in it but it’s not a viable solution for the long run. Pressuring children to grasp the syllabus without clearing their knowledge gap is not how we operate in Effektiv Lernen.
2. That brings us to the next choice. No parents will deny that they prefer the second but will still choose the first choice. Learning is a slow process and its efficacy depends upon individuals. Now when in the talk about In-depth learning, it doesn’t mean we will let your child learn every sentence of their textbooks. It’s more about receiving information in a deeper level and feeding them in the subconscious, which will stay there for eternity.
3. Yes, of course, or we wouldn’t be in the position where we are today. On the previous paragraph, I told you how we promote in-depth learning and it’s a slow process. Yes, we won’t lie about it. As humans, we need time to get accustomed to a certain environment. We can’t and don’t expect our students to get accustomed to our teaching method. We give them time, meanwhile, check their performance as well.
We follow-up our pupils' performance
We are not among those teachers who just appreciate our students and leave them of their own. We know the grey areas behind learning. When a mentee answers a question right, that doesn’t signify he/she have a strong understanding. Sometimes children answer a question just by concluding without having any idea about upcoming questions. Therefore, our tutors ask follow-up questions to students for ensuring a clear idea behind the question.
We enquire – We don’t Correct:
It’s common for children to make mistakes, but we don’t simply stop them doing the mistake. We ask the reason behind their mistake. What makes them believe their choice is the right one? It helps us understanding and trace the weak zones of our students. Besides, we don’t simply take the pen and notebook in our hand to solve the answer and let our students come up with the answer by themselves.
