PSA| Ya Should Give In What Someone Else Puts Out
Dear other roleplayers,
So like. This is a problem I’m seeing not only me but with other people on my dash as well and I haven’t seen anyone address it yet so since I’m in a ranting mood I’m gonna address it.
Listen. I get it with length matching really shouldn’t be a thing. In fact before people come at me, accusing me of advocating length matching. Shut up. It’s not about that.
This is about just being freaking polite with something called:
Effort matching.
It’s a fairly simple concept. While I’m not going to count every single word in your response and hiss if you’re two sentences off I expect to get the same amount of effort I put into my reply from yours.
Meaning if I type like five paragraphs, detailing my character’s thoughts emotions and motives as they’re doing something I’m not expecting five paragraphs back.
BUT I ALSO SHOULD NOT GET A DAMN ONE LINER BACK!
It’s rude, it’s inconsiderate and it shows you don’t have any respect for my muse, our thread and me as another person behind the keyboard.
No one is forcing you to match them word by word. But please. Don’t ruin someone’s enthusiasm for a thread by giving them “Okay cool” in response to a reply they clearly put time and effort into.
Don’t match length. Don’t force yourself to write a long bland reply just to match words exact. Match effort, though. Don’t be lazy. Just let your character’s emotions or drives bleed into your writing and an equally decent reply will result.
Be nice. Someone gave you a beautiful reply because they enjoy writing with you. Don’t squander that because you don’t feel like putting in effort. The “Draft” button exists for a reason. I’d rather wait for a decent reply than immediately read a verbal piss on my effort.
Love, sinnersofafeather.
