I can’t help it….I have to be part of the #EffWinterMal I have so many selfish makes and I figured now is the time ⏰ to do something for me that makes me feel 🥹 good about myself.❣️ I live in such a conservative, old fashioned community 🏘️ that it has affected what I want to make. Fear 😨 of being pointed at and gossiped about🫦 is real‼️ Given the fact that I’m an old woman AND I’ve been shamed 🫣 into hiding and covering up my body because I am plus sized, adds to being wary about what garments I make. Back in the 70’s being overweight was not cool, and I was taught to hide behind clothes that were too big for me and covered everything up. Few people got to know the beautiful person that I am, because I was hiding in plain sight. So, I’ve decided to follow @knittingtipsy …..do what I want to do and not be ashamed of it.👍 Chelsea and Kate (aka @oneofakate)have been the best things to ever happen to my self esteem. This selfish make is a modified version of #thelotusskirt by @namaste_and_crochet . I am modifying the very top of the skirt just because…well, even though I don’t care what others think…..facts are facts … I’m 64 years old and uncomfortable wearing something that shows too much of my undergarments. My plan is to barely cover my bum, then follow the rest of the pattern as written. It might be a total disaster, but I won’t know until I try it right⁉️ For this garment, I’m using some yarn I had in my stash from @lalablesyarn (which has since closed shop) in the color “Coffee Frappe” Check out my feather stitch markers from @baahumble and my handmade crochet hook from @the_mountain_maker Be sure to visit their shops for all of the amazing products they have to offer. 😍 I don’t know how far I’ll get with this project before the #EffWinterMal ends, but hopefully 🤞🏼 I’ll have it complete.
