I am pretty certain that they did not look like that when they were originally installed at Bridgeport, some 40 odd years ago. I could be wrong though. Oh well. I can't complain. It was my own fault. I was adjusting the quill feed clutch and just finishing up, tightening the Allen drive set screw, when I reached up for a wrench that I had set on top of the head. As I reached for it, I knocked the power switch. The Allen wrench jammed the quill feed drive and I heard the gut wrenching KKKkrruuuuuuuuuch THUMP! Snap! Krunch... WHUMP! Snap! Krunch! Pop!
