Gânsacul şi egalitatea

Odată-un sur şi biet gânsac

Îl ia pe vultur la certat:

”Pe semne vulture-ai uitat,

Că nu eşti zeu, că-mi eşti fărtat.

Uitat-ai tu că-ţi sunt egal?

De singur zbori – e ilegal!”

 Şi vulturul de sus sosi

Şi la gânsacul sur veni,

Îl apucă făr multă vorbă

Şi-l poartă tocmai sus sub boltă.

Îl slobozi apoi în nori

”Acuma, frate, poţi să zbori!”

 Ce-a fost cu-acel gânsac n-om spune,

Dar iată s-a-ntâmplat minune:

De-atunci orice gâscan din curte

De-a nu vorbi de-egalitate

Just Be Safe

Should any form of crime exist? No. Should I have to lock my car so that people won’t steal everything in it? No. Should I have to be afraid of being mugged, or held at gunpoint during the night or any time for that matter? No. Should anyone have to be afraid of being raped? No. But should we be afraid of these things happening to us? Absolutely. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong (although it’s very clearly wrong) for any of these things to happen to anyone, but you can’t expect these things to not happen, or for these things to just disappear. The people who do these horrible things don’t care if it’s right or wrong, they just want whatever it is that they want. 

I’ve learned to not trust strangers before I even went to preschool. Be on the alert, be aware of your surroundings. You have to play it safe, even as a white male, I play it safe. I don’t go out alone at night, I lock all my doors, and if there is a person who is walking close to me I make sure I’m in a public area or I just won’t keep walking. If there is someone standing in my path or close to it, I keep my distance from them and keep them in my sight. You can never fully expect anything, but there are precautions you can take to avoid them. I want to make this very clear, no one should have to take any precautions, but if you do, it could potentially save you from having something terrible happen to you. Please get that through your head, all of you. You shouldn’t have to do this, but you have to. This world isn’t perfect. Not yet at least, so please, just be as safe as you can.
