HOW TO TELL IF AN EGG IS STILL GOOD
Had eggs for awhile and want to see if they are still fresh? Here's a quick test.
Pour a few inches of water into a bowl.
Place an egg / eggs in the water.
A fresh egg that lies on the bottom.
An egg that tips so the end is rising, not so fresh.
The older the more one end of the egg rises up.
An egg that bobs to the surface, has gone bad.
---
The reason for this is the natural air space in an egg. In a fresh egg, the air space is small and contained in the largest end of the egg, the older an egg gets, the more the egg itself shrinks allowing gases to expand the space causing the egg to rise.
---
The one exception to this rule is developing eggs that have gone bad, the embryo will have filled the space and the egg will not rise. Should this be the case, take the egg and a flashlight to s dark space and shine a light through the egg, a developing egg will be dark inside, others will be light
