Tamagotchi 25th Anniversary Exhibit at Egg Festa Reveals Rare Black Tamagotchi Plus with P1 Background

The Egg Festa event has just wrapped up at Lalaport Tokyo-Bay, but if you took a close look at the Tamagotchi History display, you probably saw something unique. This Tamagotchi History display has been seen in other locations throughout Japan but we’re just seeing a closeup of this black Tamagotchi Plus released in Japan back in 2004 and it caught our eye.

The black Tamagotchi Plus is nothing new, but the buttons are black, which is unlike the one released back in 2004 with white buttons. Also, the background that it has should look familiar! It looks like it’s actually using the background behind the screen of a TamagotchI P1. The screen is larger on the Tamagotchi Plus than the Tamagotchi P1, and it looks like it has been tailored to fit the device perfectly, and includes graphics for each one of the menu icons too.

Are we looking at a Tamagotchi Plus prototype that was never released? It could be the case given that the background is the P1 background fit for the larger screen, and black buttons that were never featured on the Tamagotchi Plus for its release. One can only wonder what the programing is, but it is definitely interesting to see Bandai Japan showing this off on the Tamagotchi History display. Maybe we should take a closer took at all of them to see if there are any other hidden gems!
