Meilyr cupped Elliott’s face, just like he’d done when he placed that sleep spell on him. “Would it be all right if I shared…” He chewed his lip, unsure of what he was even asking for.
Elliott didn’t quite know how to answer either. Some rational part of his mind told him he was flying far too close to the raging sun, yet his aching heart wanted to take some of the burden from the dragon who’d done so much for him. The gentle brush of Meilyr’s thumb over his cheek was drowning out that rational part of his mind anyway. “You can share some of that pain with me. I don’t mind.”
Meilyr shifted, nearly pulling away from Elliott when he properly worded what Meilyr had been trying to say. Then he closed his eyes and pressed his forehead to Elliott’s.
In that pure darkness, Meilyr’s wings flared out behind him as a great shadow, his human disguise fading to accommodate the spell which was dragging Elliott down into the murky depths of his mind.
