THE EGGSPERIMENTS AU MASTERPOST !

This is an au I've been cooking up based on an idea I made a few years ago where Sonic and Tails were chaos energy experiments transformed by Dr. Robotnik!

I plan on making this into a comic at some point, maybe soon.

My written lore and story is right below the cut !

Eggman discovers a chaos emerald and learns of its physical energy properties. He wants to do a live experiment and so he finds a young Sonic, who isn't fast at this point but is still on his own, and captures him. Eggman starts giving Sonic blood transfusions comprised of blood samples and extracted chaos energy made by taking slivers off of the chaos emerald and liquifying them. It starts changing Sonic, filling him with overwhelming energy that only calms down when he runs, some expelling through the static electricity in his quills.

After a certain amount of time testing, Eggman is brought a proposition. A family of foxes offered up their twin-tailed toddler, wanting rid of him before he grew and brought humiliation to the family for his birth defect. They had heard of a doctor who was in need of unique subjects and so decided it was best they hand him over. Eggman began the treatment of the little fox not long after, and the effects were different, much to Eggman's surprise. The chaos energy was affecting the fox's sense of gravity. He began floating, moving if he was on the moon, and used his tails to propel himself through the air. Eggman had to weigh down his ankles and keep him in a pressurized cell to keep him from sitting on the ceiling.

After awhile, he finally let the two meet, and they immediately hit it off. They were inseparable and would make a fuss when they had to go back to their respective cells. As they hung out they began to wonder if they could go outside, and when they brought it up to Eggman, they were met with an immediate shut down. Sonic argued that they shouldn't be cooped up in his lab for the rest of their lives. They were yelled at and immediately separated to their rooms.

It started coming to a point whrte their testing starting to become more combative rather than reflexive, with Sonic questioning the doctor's motive for their creation, so when the doctor was out one day, he fried the lock of his cells with his energy and did the same to tails, making their way to the doctor's computer. Tails makes his way into it, having quickly gained an affinity for machines and technology through watching the doctor, and they soon find out that they're going to be utilized as some kind of super soldier. Horrified by this news, Sonic decides right then and there that they need to break out. They begin to make a break for it when Eggman returns right as they reach the door. Furious with their insubordination, he calls for his badniks until he's suddenly tazed by Sonic spindashing directly unto him. With Eggman unconscious they run like there's no tomorrow out into the bright, unfamiliar world.

Since tails chaos makes him float up to the aur like he's on the moon, does he use his tails sometimes to make sure he's not floating into some ceiling?

Hello friend, I'm happy you like my AU !!

I plan on concepting the research facility they reside in fairly soon, I've yet to full solidify a layout but I have aspects of their rooms/cells and Eggman's main computer set! We'll see their lives as we get into the comic :]

I'm incredibly flattered that you think of handplates !! That story is so so good and I grew up with it coming out so that's such a compliment to me !

As for your question, yes he does! A little thing about his tails is that one of them is stunted, which would make it more difficult to fly like his canon counterpart. When he's being affected, He has very little control of his body and would end up on the ceiling. When he gets more used to his gravity fluctuations, he's able to use his tails in the same fashion as a paddleboat propeller. He'll get stronger with it as he grows up!

In your Eggsperiments AU, is Shadow the same as usual then? Or did something else happen to him? Are Amy and Knuckles also experiments in this world or just natural phenomena? Out of all Sonic series, games, and comics, which do you think your AU is best fit to be in?

In this AU, is shadow the same as usual?

Shadow is the same, still a creation on the ark and all that. I want to leave him mainly unchanged bc I think when going against sonic, as someone who is also an experiment, it will be 1) a little funny and 2) an interesting way to play with their dynamic! Eggman didn't model his experiments after Project Shadow either, as at this point he's not aware of the full extent of his Grandfather's research. Bro thinks he's the first one doing something like this 💔

Are Amy and Knuckles also experiments or natural?

Amy and Knuckles are natural in their abilities ! I believe in the idea that every mobian as a species has some level of tolerance to chaos energy, Sonic and Tails just had theirs manually heightened way too fast for their age, which is why they have complications. I Feel like Knuckles has a high capacity for chaos energy due to his proximity to the master emerald and Amy has a decently high tolerance to chaos energy but would have to be medically limited when she's older due to that fact (I know it's not an original idea of mine but I like giving Amy a similar thing to inhibitors bc she's just so powerful to me). Both Knuckles and Amy have enhanced strength due to their tolerance, but Amy doesn't reach her full potential strength for awhile due to her limiters.

Where are we in the Sonic Universe?

As for where I'd place this, I like putting things in the context of mainline sonic games ! To me, this takes place in very early classic era! I'm unsure where to place them timeline wise when they would break out, but I am actively workshopping it behind the scenes!

Eggsperiments Update #2: Light at the End of the Tunnel

Hey guys, update time! Definitely not a week past what I said I would or anything eheh...

Anywho, finals are almost done for me! That means less time going into stressing over school and more time going into developing this project!! The issue one script is still underway and asks are still needing answered

The askbox is still open btw! I'm more than happy to answer any questions still as long as it doesn't impede my story :]

In final news, and this may be a bit ahead of things, but I'm setting up a discord server for this project!! I'm putting an interest check for this at the bottom of this post, but at the very least it will be a good way to organize all my assets for my friends who are helping me with this. At most it would be a nice way for the people interested in this project and my work to get together and be able to talk about it.

Eggsperiments Update: Life and Such Things

Apollo cheese for the sudden drop off, things got a little busy school wise! There are a couple Eggsperiments asks I will be getting to soon, I promise I'm not ignoring yall !!

I also wanted to say thank you for all the kind words and excitement for my little AU !! It means the world to me that there are people interested in what my little eggs have to offer and I hope I don't disappoint !

As for an update on how development is going, an outline for the first issue is in progress ! I can't format much at the moment due to a full plate of tasks, but I've got a good portion of the story beats lined up in my brain !

My hope is to start rolling out pages as of early June, but due to how early I am in development that date is subject to change.

Still, I'm excited and working on things when I can. Thank you once again for your support of this project !!

Hello!! not a question just praise! :D I'm not usually one for AUs (im not good with change) but I really like your Eggsperiments AU!! I think it might be my enjoyment of 90s sonic, the sort of darker tone is something I always enjoy! So very excited to see more. Alsooo,,very nice Eggman design <3 beautiful bald man

I love playing into the darker tones of Sonic, it's something we don't see super duper often in the games and stuff nowadays and it's just so cool to explore.

And thank you !!! A little fun fact about my Eggman design (it's applied to all my Eggman designs ever) is that he has rosacea !
