we speak about what the actors in the haze of plot can't imagine: the end. lights dimming till dark, curtains closing, doors shutting. the earth swells under the feet of heroes, knowing one day it, too, will swallow them whole. the stage is barren, devoid of the characters that say their story as unending. but the story ends and we are all left of their remainders. and we wait like the patient earth for the next naive hero to believe their story the ultimate. and we, too, will swallow them whole.
