BFF STUDIES
...if friendship projects its hope beyond life - an absolute hope, an incommensurable hope - this is because the friend is, as the translation has it, ‘our own ideal image’.
Jacques Derrida / Politics of Friendship
FIESTA DE LEG
This one I like.
Back to playing with projections through glass.
My fake friends and I.
Distortion detected through color change.
Mainly purple and yellow tints- exhibiting both strobing and gradual movements within the frame.
Further experimentation of time detected through movement of the battery icon, the shift in my eyes, the pace at which my hair falls, and the last motion of my arm towards the camera.
6/3
Further exploration with reflection.
The rabbit-hole-esque feedback is created when the camera sees the image it is projecting, but it is not affected to the same extent when a mirror is put in front of this same image. Although it does reflect onto the other side of the wall.
Delay is one again quite obvious with the movement of the mirror.
At 0:25, the reflection of the mirror comes out of the projected space, and onto the wall.
This creates multiple layers on multiple planes.
0:54 is what I will research further from here- taking the image in and out of these different planes in any given space.
1:10 shows the way light works in this setting. It is magical as it continues through the multiple feedback screens, and creates a stream of light that is retarded by the time delay. (Especially obvious at 2:01).
The whipping of the hair at 1:53 was to further examine the delay, which is evident in the stills previously posted.
