For the past decade, El Leon de Oro has been reaping awards from the most prestigious choral competitions in the world. Last year, the choir just won the Grand Prize in Arezzo (Italy), which qualifies them this year for the ever elusive European Grand Prix for Choral Music. Now one wonders what will happen if El Leon de Oro wins Maribor and the EGP this year - will they be allowed to compete again next year? I think the EGP organizers should start reviewing their rule book because this choir has set its eye in winning both competitions.

The Via Nova Chor is a Munich-based choir that already has several local and international awards under its belt. Today they will compete once more at the final round of the 11th Maribor International Competition with the hope of qualifying next year for the World Grand Prix for Choral Music, the most prestigious choral competition in the world.

At 6:00 (Manila Time), the University of the East Chorale will be facing fellow Filipino choir, Ateneo College Glee Club, in the final round of the 11th Maribor International Competition. If the University of the East Chorale wins, they are eligible to compete next year at the European Grand Prix for Choral Music - a first in the choir's history. This amazing choir, led by Anna Tabita Abeleda-Piquero, has always been known for their unique sound, warmth and charisma, always making them the crowd favorite and a constant forerunner in every Public's Prize Award.

Sweden is known for producing some of the best choirs in the world. The Sofia Vokalensemble, one of Sweden's more active choirs in the international choral circuit, will compete today in the final round of the 11th Maribor International Choral Competition against choirs from the Philippines, Spain and Germany.

"It's Europe against the Philippines!" 

The Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club is one of the five choirs who made it to the final round of the 11th Maribor International Competition (Slovenia). The winner of the Grand Prize will represent the competition next year in the European Grand Prix for Choral Music, which is considered to be the most prestigious choral competition in the world. Should the Ateneo Glee Club win, they will be competing against the grand prize winners from the other EGP qualifier competitions in Arezzo (Italy), Tours (France), Tolosa (Spain), Varna (Bulgaria) and Debrecen (Hungary).
