Working on formulating an #EgyptianPaste that I can #3dprint . The last time, I just used an existing formula, which was totally not workable. This time, I’m starting from scratch. It’s printable, but still difficult. I’ll have to fire these tests to see if they self-glaze. . #ceramics #glazechemistry (at Penland School of Crafts)

Test #3dprinted objects in my attempt to formulate an extrudable #EgyptianPaste . This was fired to cone 04. Results are very promising. . I think I can dial back on the soluble fluxes, which would likely solve some of the other problems I’ve had on the printing end. . This is a typical test result. It’s not pretty, and it’s not what I’m striving for, but it’s valuable data. . This is my first formulation of a printable #egyptianpaste using waste jewelry pickle fired to cone 08. It looks like there’s migration of copper to the surface, but not enough fluxing agents to gloss the surface. I think I’m going to try adding some baking soda to the next batch to see what happens. This would also help make it less acidic and make loading the cartridges potentially less hazardous. .
