This might be a slightly nebulous one but: If Enclave had the opportunity to speak 'directly' to Lolth in the way she does Vhaeraun, how do you reckon that would go? Would something like that even happen?

So. I had some thoughts with this question.

It would depend on the period of her life she's in.

Enclave "<200" has a much different personality than Enclave after she joins Vhaeraun's church, because the kind of people that occupy his church (And frankly, the kind of god HE is) heavily influences the person she becomes (And there-for, the type of person to talk to divinity with that much audacity.)

But also, I don't think Enclave is stupid. Talking to Vhaeraun like she does is calculated (In that she knows it's something he finds funny.) Compared to Lolth who wants control and to be feared.

AND If she had stuck with Lolth and stayed a Priestess of Lolth? She wouldn't have ended up with the kind of personality that allowed her to feel emboldened enough to speak to divinity like that at all. Honestly, my overarching thought about the person she'd become if she stayed with Lolth is "This is a woman who would have ended up dead/cannibalized by the system she serves." This is someone that drow society is designed to fail, y'know? She doesn't LIKE unpredictability and chaos, she wants order. And a very nice list of things she can complete.

However, if we're talking Enclave at like. 500. As she is now in the current, as a cleric of Vhaeraun, Post-Everything? Yeah she has nothing to lose. She'd get smited by the spider god, she's not winning that fight. But she'd cuss her out. She doesn't have to be on good terms with her.

okay well !!!? thanks for bringing this up, this one is actually Incredibly Crazy Lore so im turning this into a rant. basicly,

val has this tendency to willfully ignore bad things and patterns around him to put his own mind at ease. he is very aware of how cursed he is but that is another story. he is also aware that his mother definitely doesn't like him all that much 💀 so any time she says 'i love you' (which happens very rarely, and even then, with her visibly struggling to say it and val willfully ignoring that) , he just pretends to believe it, and moves on w his day.

the story behind it is that honestly. rebecca wasn't truly ready to have him when she did, and she fully expected for rook to be there and guide her through being a parent, and that was the one thing that made her feel secure about that upcoming journey of motherhood. knowing that the love of her life was going to help. but we all know what happened 😔👍 so yeah. she always and forever will prioritize rook and their lost love, because in truth, val was never going to be who she loves most in the world, and that. gap that was created between them because of that keeps widening. rebecca has an inkling about the whole situation, but won't say it or be honest about it, and val is aware of it all and doesn't bother mentioning it or caring about it too much. she was never truly present, so he doesn't care about it anymore. he's found a family that truly loves him, and in all honesty, val somehow. Understands her. because of how intensely he loves mason, he can see where rebecca's hurt comes from. he won't accept it, but he understands. they are kind of parallels in that way, and just like rook, val wanted a child in his life very badly, except it didn't work out for him, so nothing Cursed could happen in the end. (although there's aus i have where val does have that dream come true and he does willfully break the cycle successfully. he is very good dad material, as rook would have been 👍)
