1937 #Gibson #EH150 #amp in super clean original condition (swipe through...even the original tubes!) spotted at @thetwelfthfret #Toronto. . I have never seen one of these in real life here locally, let alone one this clean! Check out the chassis...it looks new ffs! I didn't play it, but my friend @moreguitar says it sounds great, with LOTS of headroom when played loud through an extension cabinet (no one wanted to blast the amp through the 83 year old original speaker so they connected a cabinet for safe playing at high volume!). . TBH I thought twice about showing you this #GibSunday beauty. Since I already set a vintage #speaker precedent earlier (see previous post) and since, as a result, my engagement metrics for today are going to be in the crapper anyway (apparently almost nobody gets all chuffed over pictures of vintage #speakers! 😄), here's the original #Gibson branded speaker from the spotless 1937 #GibsonEH150 amp I saw at @thetwelfthfret Toronto a couple of Saturdays ago. I have the feeling it's going to be an #amp-heavy kind of day here on the DeeBeeUs™ channel because 1) I freaking love vintage #amps so much and 2) I saw a lot of fun ones on the weekend! . Case in point: here is a gut shot of the pristine 1937 #Gibson #EH150 spotted on the weekend at @thetwelfthfret in Toronto, Canada. Check out how clean it is. I mean this amp is 83 years old ffs! I know a few 83 year olds and believe you me they are not this clean! Check out those original tubes. I guess they didn't like glass back then...seven point six two millimeter, full metal jacket! But seriously, does anybody know why old tubes are metal instead of glass? Is it just a metal cover and there is glass inside? Does metal shed heat better? Is it to protect the glass inside from breaking? So many questions! . And now for something completely different... . 1930s #Gibson 7 string # spotted at @thetwelfthfret #Toronto. I think it is an #EH150 from 1936 or early '37 based on the lack of headstock inlay (models before mid-1937 had no headstock inlay), the unbound pickup (which corroborates the prior to mid-1937 date) and the bridge design (which was used beginning in early 1936). I have always wanted to get into lapsteel and I think these early Gibsons are so beautiful .
