Edrahil found his lord in the gardens. Finrod sat on a fencepost in the shade, long legs outstretched in front of him and crossed at the ankles, his head bowed. In his hands he held a long hunting knife, the blade dark and curled very slightly. His silver crown was by his feet in the dirt. His hair was loose. Unbound it was long enough the ends fell just about his hips. It was recently combed and washed, curling slightly with the damp. Even in the shade it was beautiful, twinkling Laurelin-gold. Edrahil thought to step forward and offer to help his lord lay and braid it; his hands ached to touch it, to feel the brush of sweet-smelling silk against his palms. Before he could move, Finrod shifted. He pulled a stand of hair taut, wrapping it around one finger to keep it so, and cut it with one sharp motion of the knife. One golden strand fell to the ground, then another. Finrod showed its beauty no more mercy than Ungoliant had had for that golden tree, shearing it high above his cheekbones, sharp, ragged cuts. Edrahil's breath caught. Against his will, his eyes watered. For a moment he wavered, still half of a mind to step forward, and then he turned and fled. This was not something he has been meant to see, nor to which he had words to say.

darklina is toxic! hell yeah and i think it should kill them both :-) i think alina should realize she has no idea how to sun summon to her fullest potential bc she’s only ever done it in opposition to him and her education was cut short, but that shadow summoning conjures him and maybe a lonely god needs a teacher. and i think somebody should make the choice to take that hand and resurrect him as a necessary evil to fight grisha on parem. and maybe i think alina, head of state of a country that actively either wants her dead or views her as a saint, should be one of those. and i think he should come to her and offer up his bones and i think she should crush them up and snort them like cocaine. as a treat. i think it should escalate to an insane degree before she kills them both teehee!

long story short, she gets sent out to kingdom’s edge to ‘protect the King’s Brand,’ (tho tbf it’s probably a misguided attempt by pk to keep her out of harm’s way) and as soon as she’s alone, Radi sends hoards of infected towards her, and she eventually falls in battle
