@eideticspider asked: “I know you can manage it, you just don’t *have* to.” / high pain tolerance
"It's fine." Miguel grumbled a hand gingerly resting against his side. The anomaly they had been after had gotten in a lucky blow and now that the fight was over? Well, he was starting to feel it.
"Don't worry about it."
+ @eideticspider liked for a starter from a Peter
+ " I'm not SAYING there's a reason behind the rule of DAY PASSES are limited , but I might KNOW things . " There's no use in HIDING that he knows more than he's letting on . But for some reason, maybe it's the INFANT currently sleeping in his lap, he's KEEPING it to himself .
@eideticspider pressed play!
For someone that had raised some alarm bells in his head the first time they had met, by the time she had helped him find his way back to his own universe, Peter could see why some other version of him had befriended Cindy. She was laid-back, witty, confident, and capable in a fight—and most importantly, she was an easy person to be around. Those were few and far between.
Yet without knowing her story inside and out like she apparently knew his, there was something there, certain reactions, turns of phrase occasionally that had him contemplative as they made their way toward, then eventually reached his ship. He couldn’t quite put a finger on it, but it felt like a restlessness to him, an urgency to seize the moment like at one point, maybe she hadn’t had the chance to.
Or he could be reading way too deep into something that wasn’t there, but…as someone who had felt that way in the past, he just had a hunch that he wasn’t that far off.
Letting his gaze drift across the blessedly familiar outline of home, his invitation came as a casual offer, belying the underlying motivation behind it.
“Y’know, you’re currently the only person that’s got me out of another dimension an’ back into my own. Least I could do is offer a couple hours seein’ somethin’ other than another New York City in a pretty great ship with really great music.”
@eideticspider asked: “ are you crying? “
Hughie was lost in the quagmire of his mind when that voice cut through his thoughts. He came back to reality with a sharp bump, self conscious and embarrassed. A clumsy, hurried hand swiped at his cheeks and awkwardly, tried clearing away the painful lump in his throat.
"No," he said, avoiding eye contact, looking as shifty and uncomfortable as possible. "No, I'm... I'm fine, I-I'm good... Thanks."
+ @eideticspider I Continued from here ( X )
+ Ok, MAYBE she had overstepped her boundaries. But you know what, call it a SPIDERLY concern from a fellow Spider . That had to count for SOMETHING in the grand scheme of the multiverse, right ? Holding up her hands in front of her, showing she hadn't meant any OFFENSE by the question, she nervously took a step BACKWARDS . " Ok , so, I'm DEFINITELY sensing a little bit of HOSTILITY here. "

There'd been a long time there where Peter had been...stubborn about Cindy Moon. It's just; you spend ten years thinking you're special, that you're the one and only Spiderman. Only to find out the spider bit someone else. That bit was a blow to his ego, but it was one easily shrugged off. Less easily shrugged off was the paranoia, the idea that Cindy was secretly evil, or trying to kill him or...
Anyways. He'd gotten over it and had discovered that Cindy was actually a pretty fun person to hang out with.
"You haven't tried the hot dog stand off 34th have you?" He swung in front of her, redirecting them closer to 34th street. "You HAVE to, they'll change your life I swear."
*smooches Peter's forehead* "You're my favorite disaster, Parker."
" A forehead ki-- Okay, that's-- that's worse, now I feel like a grampa about to be set out to pasture. To the great big web up in the sky. Thanks, Cindy."
