while he's at his chair, working away, she makes her way over to miguel, her steps being very quiet as to not disturb him. there is a slight bit of guilt eating at her, especially when submitting that was just supposed to be lighthearted... gloved hands gently rest on his shoulders, leaning down to press a kiss against his cheek, her voice was soft when she spoke. " i'm sorry that i upset you... " maybe it wasn't her fault, but even if it wasn't, the need to apologize still felt warranted.

"..." He tensed just a bit but soon relaxed letting out a small exhale hands slowing in their motions for a moment. "It's not your fault... it's just something that I did in the past... recently... you didn't really know." Was he going to go into it? He wasn't sure. "I did something bad.. and it didn't end well... it's why I'm so serious about all of this." He wasn't going to condemn an entire world and it's population to death again.

He wouldn't be against anything like that again but right now it was still kind of fresh. He was an idiot, really, who kept shutting himself out but in his mind it was for the best.

Who put her up to this? Was it Peter? Or was this just her way of trying to get back at him for his own teasing? Sighing he picked it up and read over it carefully.

"I don't do pet names... unless pain in the ass counts." He rolled his eyes a slight tug pulling at his lips before he carried on. "And marriage or not it wouldn't stop you from annoying me."

That last line... it made him go very quiet as he just stared down at the text grip tightening on the paper ever so slightly his body tensing just a bit. It felt like he'd been re-reading it for what felt like hours before he inhaled slowly and then exhaled.

"I need to get back to work..." his words weren't harsh but they were firm as he set the paper down to one side. He hadn't exactly declined it but it was clear it had accidentally struck a sore spot for him.
